NEW THIS YEAR
VARtek was busy over break
updating systems, refreshing
assets, and preparing
classrooms and lab for a new
year. Some highlights:
 Reconnected computer
cables throughout district.
 Performed quality control
checks.
 Installed, reimaged
computers in high school
labs, classrooms.
 Installed Chromebooks in
new carts.
ON THE HORIZON
We will work with the district
to develop additional training
on and will support
implementation of
Chromebooks and other new
equipment. We also will
begin planning for the
development of a technology
committee and a technology
plan to help keep Valley
View’s students, teachers,
and staff equipped with the
latest educational
technology.
I hope the summer break gave you a chance to relax and recharge and that you’re
ready for another year of driving student engagement with great content and great
technology. At VARtek, we are committed to helping you create a 21st century
learning environment that transforms your classrooms and ensures that students
develop the critical thinking skills they need to succeed in college and in their
careers.
Our on-site technicians and Classroom Technology Coaches—as well our shared
team of engineers, project managers, and a communications specialist—are ready
to collaborate with and support you as you integrate the best tools and resources
into your curriculum and daily operations. Likewise, our national service desk is
ready to provide fast assistance with user accounts, software installations, and
general technology questions. The help desk technicians also can work with your
on-site technicians to quickly address issues that can’t be resolved remotely.

Scott Garrett, Senior Director – Operations MBA, BS Organizational Leadership, AAS Systems Engineering,

As Senior Director – Operations, Scott Garrett manages the strategic operations of VARtek’s field teams,
overseeing technology directors, engineers, and project managers to ensure the stability of the technology
environment in each school system. He delivers regular status reports to school administrators and
initiates high-level discussions regarding the role of technology in school operations. Scott also works
closely with VARtek’s president to determine technology offerings, help manage the company’s strategic
directions, develop financial forecasts, and manage contracts.
Bradley Crum, Network Administrator AAS Computer Network Engineering, CCNA

As a Network Administrator, Bradley Crum supports the school’s local and wide-area networks. He
identifies network requirements, installs upgrades, and monitors and troubleshoots network performance.
Brad also defines network policies and procedures and establishes connections and firewalls.
Mark Benn, Classroom Technology Coach MS Educational Media Design and Technology, BS Music

As a Classroom Technology Coach, Mark Benn develops and delivers instructional technology coaching to
teachers. Mark also works with teachers to develop and deliver lessons in a variety of curricular areas,
integrating the latest educational technology tools. And he provides day-to-day technical support to
administrators, staff, teachers, and students, as needed.
