Writing 110 is an elective course within the discipline of English language arts. It is intended to complement a student’s compulsory English course by introducing students to many writing styles such as narrative, descriptive, expository, persuasive and poetry. Specific attention will be paid to the steps of the writing process, the write traits, and writing for real and varied audiences. Students will have many opportunities for individual and small group conferencing to facilitate improvement in a positive environment. The overall goal of this course is to help students improve their writing skills, but also to nurture an appreciation for various forms of writing and to increase students’ analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
