July 2014
Dear Friend of Preservation:
It is my pleasure to invite you to be a sponsor of the Michigan Historic Preservation Network’s 2014 Fall Benefit,
scheduled for Saturday evening, October 11th at the Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater, Michigan. Plans for this
festive evening include guided tours, delicious cuisine and spirits, and our popular silent and live auctions. Join the
MHPN in celebrating our 20th annual Fall Benefit, and the spectacular restoration of the 1882 Tibbits Opera House
designed by Detroit architect Mortimer Smith. This Second Empire theatre is the second oldest operating theatre in
Michigan, and the preservation story of the Tibbits Opera House is a magnificent one.
A listing of the sponsorship opportunities accompanies this letter. While we seek the broad financial support of our
partners throughout the state, we are especially hopeful that the remarkable restoration of the Tibbits Opera House
is celebrated by those on the West Side of the state. In fact, we not only welcome your gifts, but invite you to attend
on October 11th and bring your colleagues, friends, and family! Please respond by August 8th for your logo to be
included on MHPN’s 2014 Fall Benefit Invitation (as an Event Partner Sponsor)!
Historic preservation is widely recognized as essential to the vitality of our communities, and our membership has
grown significantly over the past 30 years. Unfortunately, this has not lessened daily threats to our heritage
assets. Your support of the Network is critical to ensure Michigan’s great historic places are preserved in these
challenging economic times. Proceeds from the 2014 Fall Benefit help to maintain the MHPN’s high caliber programs
and services so that it can best serve you. Addressing local preservation needs statewide, growing our Historic
Preservation Easement Program and our Revolving Fund, serving as your advocate at the state and national levels,
and financially supporting local preservation activities through the Michigan Preservation Fund are just a few of our
efforts with an impact well beyond their size.
We hope you will recognize the many benefits of supporting our Fall Benefit this year. Should you have any
questions, please contact me at 517.281.9733 or Executive Director, Nancy Finegood, at the MHPN Office
(517.371.8080). We look forward to talking with you in the near future and hope to see you on October 11th!
Warmest Regards,
Emily Jarvi
