Class Selection Form
The following enrichment and academic classes will be offered Monday through Friday. Please complete the
registration form and return it, along with the appropriate fees, via email at info@spacecitytutors.com or stop by the
center at 16302 Sea Lark Road, Suite C, Houston, TX 77062.

Reading: Grades Pre-K–2, 3–5, and 6–8
Intensive Reading – Remedial: This course will include hands-on and activity-based instructional
strategies designed to increase skills in the language arts.
Balanced Literacy: This course utilizes shared reading, guided reading, and independent reading.
Listening and reading comprehension will also be taught throughout each component with a focus
on differentiation for each student.
Reading for Pleasure: Be prepared to have fun with reading. Activities will include reading games,
word games, plays, as well as independent and group reading.
Math: Grades Pre-K–2, 3–5, and 6–8
Intensive Math – Remedial: This course will include hands-on and activity-based instructional
strategies designed to increase skills in math.
Fun in Math: Students will review math skills using games, art, literature, and manipulatives. The
course focuses on the new math TEKS in a fun way.
Problem Solving/Critical Thinking in Math: Students will explore math concepts using
manipulatives, projects, and cooperative learning activities.
Writing: Grades 3–5 and 6–8
Poetry Writing and Appreciation: This is writing experience will give students insights about
famous poets, poetry terms, and appreciation of poetry altogether. Students will read and write
poetry and also create a poetry notebook. We will host an Open Mic Poetry Party on our last day
with lots of fun and learning.
Publisher’s Workshop: This course is designed to sharpen writing skills and practice descriptive,
narrative, and informative writing. Daily writing exercises will be the springboard for this fun yet
practical writing course.
Science: Grades Pre-K–2, 3–5, and 6–8
Health and Nutrition: Students will participate in nutritional and physical activity programs so that
they can learn proper eating habits, fitness techniques, and the basics of anatomy.
Earth and Space Science: Students will participate in a variety of fun activities exploring the earth
and space.
Other: Grades Pre-K–2, 3–5, and 6–8
Fun with Arts and Crafts: This course will offer an opportunity for younger students to enjoy
summer while learning basic art and crafts skills. Older students will learn about the basic
elements and principles of art in order to advance their art skills.
Multicultural Art: This course is designed to allow students to experience the art of various
cultures. Clay, paper, printing, and weaving experiences will be included. The purpose of the
course is to enrich art skills, encourage creativity, and develop multicultural understanding.
