授業の目標 Course Objectives
This course outlines the fundamental theory and practice of waste management systems and recycling systems. Especially, I
shall instruct the basic concept and process for the design of proper recycling systems for waste biomass to promote a sound
material-cycle society and to promote biomass energy in Japan.
到達目標 Course Goals
Given specific examples of the challenges in waste recycling systems in Japan, you learn the importance of well-designed
system of recycling in an appropriate overall balance. Namely, in order to design good recycling systems, we have to define
the objective, carefully consider the conditions of input and output, responsible organization, the characteristics of the region
and select the best recycling technology.
授業計画 Course Schedule
(1) Introduction for waste recycling (4 weeks)
1.1 Background of promoting a sound material-cycle society and waste flow
1.2 Current situation of Waste management and recycling in Sapporo
1.3 Policy making in waste management and recycling
(2) Recycling technology and systems
2.1 Waste characteristics (1 week)
2.2 Composting (2 week)
2.3 Biogasification (Anaerobic digestion) (2 weeks)
2.4 Management of cow manure (2 week)
2.5 Integrated recycling systems (1 week)
(3)Special lecture
3.1 Field trip to recycling facilities in Sapporo (counted as 2 weeks)
3.2 Presentation by students using power point (About waste management in your country) (2 weeks)
Course Schedule might be changed according to students.
準備学習(予習・復習)等の内容と分量 Homework
Students must have interests in appropriate treating and recycling of waste, have strong sense of curiosity, and be able to
actively participate in field trips to recycling facilities.
