Article I
Purpose/Mission
1. To promote the unique culture and diversity of Singapore to the Tufts student population
2. To promote interaction between Tufts students and Singaporean associations at other
schools in Boston and along the East coast.
3. Represent Tufts University at ‘Contact Singapore’ events that are held frequently in
Boston. These events serve as a great opportunity for more people to understand the
Singaporean culture.
4. Be a main sponsor of a ‘Contact Singapore’ event and aim to bring the event to the Tufts
campus
Article II
Membership
1. Membership is open to any student that has paid the student activities fee, graduate
students, and professors within the Tufts community. There shall be absolutely no
discrimination based on a person’s race, color, background, or nationality.
2. To become a voting member of the SSA, you must attend at least two meetings.
3. Members are required to attend a minimum of two meetings per semester.
Article III
Elections and Officers
1. All undergraduate students who meet the criteria of voting members are allowed to run
for a position on the Executive Board.
2. The term of office for any position is for one academic year. Once new elections are held
and new officers are appointed, the old E-board members will have two weeks as part of
a transition period.
3. Should there be a tie in the voting, the incumbent E-board members will conduct a tiebreaking vote. The outcome of the E-board member’s vote will be final, and the winner
will awarded the position.

4. Elections will be held at the end of Spring semester. To be elected as a member of the Eboard, a simple majority of votes is required. The positions in the Executive board are:
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Chair, Marketing Chair,
and Freshman Representative.
a. President Duties
i. The President will attend and preside over all meetings
ii. The President must be responsible for the club’s actions for activities that
are held on campus and for off campus
iii. The President is responsible for drafting the activities agenda for each
semester. This agenda should reflect the views of the E-board officers as
well as the views from the club members
iv. If the E-board fails to reach a consensus on a decision, the President will
have the power to approve or deny the motion at hand.
v. The President will be the representative of SSA and Tufts University
when organizing or participating in ‘Contact Singapore’ events. He/she
will be in charge of managing club affairs for ‘Contact Singapore’
events.
b. Vice President Duties
i. The Vice President will assume the President’s power in his/her absence.
ii. The Vice President will act as an enforcer to ensure that the club’s
activities and expenditures are within the guidelines set by the Tufts
Student Activities Office.
iii. The Vice President will be the in charge of managing club affairs for oncampus events.
iv. The Vice President will act as the club’s secondary treasurer if the
treasurer is unable to attend any Treasury meetings.
c. Treasurer Duties
i. The Treasurer is responsible for all financial matters and bookkeeping of
SSA money.
ii. The Treasurer is to attend all Treasury meetings on campus or any
financial issue meetings for ‘Contact Singapore’ events.
iii. The Treasurer is to report to the E-board on the financial status of the
club at every SSA meeting.
iv. The Treasurer’s signature is required for all financial transactions that
happen on-campus or for ‘Contact Singapore’ events. In emergency
situations, the President or Vice President may sign-for the treasurer if
he/she is unavailable.

v. The Treasurer will draft the annual budget for SSA.
d. Secretary Duties
i. The Secretary is responsible to ensure that the meeting rooms are ready
before the start of every meeting.
ii. The Secretary is to take minutes for every meeting and should send out
the minutes to all members within 48 hours.
iii. The Secretary is responsible for updating the member directory on a
regular basis
iv. The Secretary should inform the E-board and the club members on the
upcoming events through monthly emails.
v. The Secretary should be responsible for being the contact person for both
on-campus and off-campus activities.
e. Public Relations Chair Duties
i. The Public Relations officer is in charge of outreach to other groups
within Tufts as well as other Singaporean communities in and around the
United States.
f.
Marketing Chair Duties
i. The Marketing Chair is in charge of all marketing of SSA events and
activities to the Tufts community and beyond.
g. Freshman Representative Duties
i. The Freshman Representative is in charge of outreach to the Freshman
class specifically, and tasked with encouraging the involvement of new
members who may not be aware of the SSA’s activities as yet.
Article IV
Impeachment
1. Once an officer on the Executive board is found to have done one of the following,
he/she could be impeached:
a. Violated the Constitution
b. Under performed on duties assigned to him/her on numerous occasions
c. Missed consecutive meetings for reasons other than illness or personal crisis

2. To impeach an officer, a two-thirds vote on the total number of present members at the
impeachment meeting is required.
3. Once an officer is impeached, he/she will no longer be eligible to run for office.
Article VI
Amendments
1. An member of SSA may recommend any amendments to the club
2. The officers of the club will discuss the amendment to determine if it is appropriate for
the club to endorse.
3. An amendment to the Constitution will only be implemented after a two-thirds vote on
the total number of present members at the amendment meeting is achieved.
4. Any amendments must be approved by the TCU Judiciary.
