Basic Cat Food Recipe COOKED
16 oz of meat – can be ground or pieces – choose between turkey (ground dark or white),
chicken (ground or boneless, skinless thighs or breasts), beef, buffalo, salmon, etc. For more
exotic choices, venison and rabbit are great (can buy ground frozen by Bravo Raw Pet Foods –
.
8 oz water
1 egg (cook it before adding to recipe – scrambled is fine) OR 4 oz of organ meat (liver or
heart). If you don’t want to add organ meat, then I suggest giving raw or roasted liver treats. But
if you will cook organ meat, then every third batch of food will be perfectly fine.
1 to 2 oz green veggie (broccoli, kale, zucchini all work well - fresh or frozen)
2 oz pumpkin or sweet potato
1000 mg Taurine
1.5 Tbsp VitaMineral Mix (I find that this brand is most palatable for cats, but there are other
excellent vitamin/mineral mixes on the market - Animal Essentials (use a multi along with their
seaweed calcium) and Flying Bassett are among the best, in my opinion).
2 Tsp Omega 3 Pet by Nordic Naturuals

Warm pan over medium heat
Add 2 tsp coconut oil (olive is okay, but coconut is better)
Pour in 2 oz water
Add meat (if using organ meat, add it, too)
If using fresh veggies, cut into small pieces and add now
As the meat cooks, continue adding water, usually 8 oz is enough. You are sort
of making a broth.
If you are using frozen veggies, add now
When meat is done cooking, transfer it, the water and veggies to a blender.
In a separate bowl, combine VitaMineral mix and taurine. Then add mixture to
the blender
Blend into a pate consistency
If you are going to keep this batch of food in the fridge, add the oil now. If you are
freezing for future use, wait until it is thawed to add the oil
Basic Cat Food Recipe RAW
1 lb meat (ground works best - chicken, turkey, buffalo, beef, rabbit, etc.)
4 oz of organ meat (liver, heart, etc.) or an egg (whites need to be cooked, yolk can be raw
or cooked)
- it is a good idea to alternate between the two; if using organ meat, cut into bite-size
chunks. For kittens, seniors and cats with dental problem, make the chunks smaller.
1- 2 oz pureed or small chunks of orange or yellow veggie (sweet potato, pumpkin,
squash)
1- 2 oz. pureed or small chunks of green veggie (zucchini, broccoli, kale)
- veggies must be cooked - steaming is great
1 - 2 Tsp Essential Fatty Acid oil (Nordic Naturals Omega 3 Pet is recommended)
4 - 5 Tsp VitaMineral Plus - www.celestialpets.com (or your favorite food-based
vitamin/mineral blend)
500 - 1,000 mg Taurine
1/8 - 1/4 tsp of probiotic at serving time. Digestive enzyme, if desired
Serving size is approximately 2 oz., two x per day. Store in glass container. Will stay fresh in
fridge for 4 days.
Whole raw chicken necks (for dessert). After treating (directions in procedures below),
remove fat from the necks and cut bone into thumb size pieces. This will clean the teeth
and provide extra calcium and other minerals.
PROCEDURE
Treat meat with 8 oz. purified water combined with 4 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract. Pour
solution over and blend into meat - do not drain off. Use only enough solution to obtain
consistency of rich chili. Mix all other ingredients into the meat.
Bones can be marinated in the solution in the refrigerator, separately.
