Matter Warm-ups Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday “It Is only those who never do anything who never make mIstakes.” ~a. Favre Science Skills Calendar Monday Given examples of matter, students will be able to classify it as a substance vs. a mixture, an element vs. a compound or a homogeneous vs. a heterogeneous mixture. Students will begin researching and designing an investigation to discover limiting reagents in a chemical reaction. Tuesday Wednesday Students will distinguish between ionic and covalent compounds. Students will be able to discuss how organic molecules compare to inorganic compounds. Students will be able to distinguish between polar and nonpolar molecules. Students will conduct an investigation to discover limiting reagents in a chemical reaction. Students will be able to use the periodic table to draw an atom. Students will continue researching and designing an investigation to discover limiting reagents in a chemical reaction. Thursday Students will distinguish between homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures. Students will be able to classify a mixture as a solution, colloid or suspension. Students will be able to explain how polar molecules dissolve differently than ionic compounds in water. Students will analyze data in order to discover limiting reagents in a chemical reaction Friday Test Day!!!! All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them. ~Walt Disney
