Unit 1: Enhancing Geography Skills
3 weeks
This unit reviews and reinforces basic geography skills needed to comprehend and interpret
maps, charts, diagrams, and graphs students will encounter in their study of World Geography.
Students will apply information from maps, geographic tools, and technologies that answer
questions about the physical and human geography of the world.

--Teaching Partner Questions
1. How are Earth’s four spheres connected to form a whole earth system that works
together?
2. Give at least two examples of when the spheres are interconnected. Explain how the
spheres are interconnected. (ex. Clouds are part of the atmosphere and hydrosphere because
clouds contain water and they are in the atmosphere.)

Topic: evaluate the threat to the Louisiana Coast and to our own way of life. Students will
examine practical ways they can help raise awareness of the problem.
Activities: -- Students will view an Interactive Graphic Map that evaluates the different threats
to the Louisiana coast.

-students will read an article on possible solutions to the devastating land loss in LA. We will
