The analyzing methods, which are accepted as
the exact solution methods, and the theory
about these methods are explained in the scope
of the course. Generally, Slope - Deflection
Method, Force Method and Moment
Distribution (Hardy Cross) Method, which are
more suitable for hand solution are studied. And
then the primary information necessary to pass
to the Direct - Stiffness Method, which is a more
suitable method for computer programming, is
explained; and Direct - Stiffness and Finite
Elements Methods are introduced partly. All the
methods are explained with a notation suitable
for computer programming; and all the
examples are prepared by using the computer
programs developed about the subjects. The
mentioned programs are explained with the
course book during the lessons and are
distributed to the students. Thus, the student
can create his/her own example and see every
step of the solution results and harden his/her
theoretical knowledge with these programs.
Topics such as analysis of statically
indeterminate structures, unit displacement
constants, rigidity and flexibility matrices, Force
Method, Slope - Deflection Method, Cross and
Moment - Area Methods are in the scope of the
course.

CONTENT
The two great divisions of Geophysics
conventionally are labeled as Exploration
Geophysics, and Global Geophysics. In
Global Geophysics, we study earthquakes,
the main magnetic field, physical
oceanography, studies of the Earth's
thermal state and meteorology (amongst
others!). In Exploration Geophysics, physical
principles are applied to the search for, and
evaluation of, resources such as oil, gas,
minerals, water and building stone.
Exploration geophysicists also work in the
management of resources and the
associated
environmental
issues.
Geophysics contributes to an understanding
of the internal structure and evolution of
the Earth, earthquakes, the ocean and many
other physical phenomena. There are many
divisions
of
geophysics,

oceanography,
atmospheric
physics,
climatology, petroleum geophysics,

CONTENT
Volcanism is one of the fundamental processes
that shape our planet and other planets in the
solar system. Volcanic rocks have the potential
to record the geological history of a region, and
in most cases these data are unique for volcanic
units. Although the volcanic units cover a
significant portion of our country, there are
relatively few studies on such successions.
This course will focus on a number of issues of
volcanology including types of volcanic activities,
pyroclastic eruption mechanisms, volcanic facies
concept, and field/laboratory studies on volcanic
successions
