Earth Day Activity Report
April 28, 2010
April 24 Earth Day Festival in collaboration with the White Mountain Green Team and City of Show:
Approximately 33 exhibitors and a live band were present. Booth – Sustainability banner, list of
Sustainability courses, NPC license plate holders, NPC pens, poster about NPC Sustainability courses,
display about calculating personal carbon footprint. Booth manned by Trudy Bender and Tabitha
Stickle. Attendance was small but many people stopped at the college booth. Comments from
community members: where can I recycle glass? (at least 3 times); where can I take things to recycle (at
least 5 times); where can I recycle electronics and toner and ink? People were referred to the NPC
Sustainability web page. Trudy and Tabitha will work on the glass, electronics, toner and ink questions.
One gentleman urged the college to send cardboard for recycling to Lakeside Sanitation/Sewage where
it is mixed with human waste and creates compost. Trudy and Tabitha will look into this. Michael
Sweeney (adjunct faculty for NPC) said he would contact Mark Engle about becoming the WMC person
to take care of recycling.
