IAHL Strategic Plan Draft 2014
EXECUTIVE:
1. Move forward with a name change ACHE of Iowa.
2. Establish term limits for Board.
3. Update Bylaws.
Carryover from 2013
MEMBERSHIP / ADVANCEMENT
1. Board ownership of membership
a. Board members learn and use ACHE talking points
b. Focus on direct 1:1 asks
c. Use FACHE in signatures and on business cards
d. Ask guest speakers to promote ACHE when appropriate
2. Mentor students and early careerists on advancement
a. Regent to speak to students
b. Profs to promote membership and advancement to students and faculty
c. Create study groups for advancement (overlaps with Education)
d. Use social media to reach out (overlaps with Communication)
3. Develop a scorecard to stay focused on numbers and plan
COMMUNICATIONS
1. Integrate communication tools
a. Include sponsors on website and in communications
b. Post job listings (link out, we would not manage them)
c. Integrate and use social media such as Linked In, Facebook, Twitter
2. Use targeted plus blanket communication (overlaps Membership & Education)
a. Identify who is ready for advancement
b. Identify who needs continuing education hours
c. Target students
3. IHA Quarterly Updates
a. Continue with quarterly updates
b. Coordinate and deliver a consistent message at these.
4. Joint communication with others (overlaps with Education)
a. Other chapters
b. Other organizations (HFMA, etc. )
5. Craft a diversity awareness communication plan (overlaps with Leadership)
LEADERSHIP
1. Develop a diversity plan
a. Consider a survey to find where we are with diversity
b. Expand idea of diversity to include organizational diversity
c. Obtain geographic diversity with a board member from each district
d. Promote diversity awareness (overlaps with Communication)
2. Develop leadership succession plan
a. Recruit non-board members to committees
b. Must serve on committee to be eligible for Board or Chair
EDUCATION / PROGRAM PLANNING
1. Offer more face-to-face education
a. Ensure enough CEUs in Iowa
b. Offer topics relevant to Iowa
c. Repeat programs 2-4 times throughout state
d. More offerings at IHA meetings
e. Consider joint programs with NE and other organizations
2. Increase attendance to 10-25% (overlaps with Membership and Communication)
a. Target members needing hours or advancement
b. Use all communication channels
c. Emphasize the educational benefit to members
3. Distance education
a. Review ACHE rules on CEUs and telecommunications
b. Create virtual study groups for advancement
4. Other
a. Congress alumni reception
b. Re-think timing of Spring networking CEO roundtable networking event
