Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship awards for 2013:
 2 Scholarships at $2000 each (2.7 GPA requirement)
 8 Scholarships at $1000 each (No GPA requirement; must be student in good standing)
 Included with each award are two tickets to the Annual CMAA Northern California Chapter
Scholarship/Awards Banquet on Thursday April 25, 2013 for the winner and winner’s professor/advisor.
Rules for 2013 Scholarship Application
 Your college or university with a CM program must be located in Northern California and be part of this list:
Stanford, UC Berkeley, Sacramento State, Chico State, Fresno State and San Jose State universities.
 You must be a student currently enrolled in a degree program (any year). Advanced degree program enrollees
are acceptable. Part-time students are acceptable when enrolled in a degree program.
 You must be pursuing a degree in Construction Management or pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with a
recognized major in Construction Management.
 You must currently have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.7 for the $2000 awards; you must be a student in good
standing for the $1000 awards, and provide official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.
 You may not have previously received any scholarship award from the CMAA Northern California Chapter or
more than one scholarship award from the CMAA National Foundation.
 Scholarship winners must prepare and submit a brief video (1 minute or less) describing themselves, their
favorite activities and why they want to become a professional CM. This will be shown at the
Scholarship/Awards Banquet, see below.
 You must be available to attend the CMAA Northern California Chapter Scholarship/Awards Banquet on
Thursday April 25, 2013 at the Hilton Concord, 1970 Diamond Blvd., Concord, CA 94520.
 No Hand Deliveries of Applications are accepted.
 Create your application using this word document, filling in the blanks using Word Software.
 Convert all documents to PDF.
 Create one (1) PDF file of all complied application information and attachments.
 Multiple PDF files, if sent, will not be re-PDF'd, and only one file will be used.

 The CMAA Northern California Chapter will notify scholarship winners at least two weeks prior to the
Thursday April 25, 2013 Scholarship/Awards Banquet. Recipients will be introduced and will receive their
scholarship checks at the Scholarship/Awards Banquet.
 The CMAA Foundation National Office also awards scholarships. For information about the National
Scholarship, please call the CMAA Foundation Office at (703) 356-2622. Do not contact the CMAA National
Foundation office with questions about this application.

makes its award recommendations to the CMAA Northern California Chapter Board of Directors. The Board
approves all scholarships awarded. The decisions of the CMAA Northern California Chapter Board of
Directors are final.
 It is the intent of the CMAA Northern California Board of Directors that the scholarships reward merit as
demonstrated by (a) academic excellence, (b) essay content, (c) application appearance and (d) extracurricular
activities.
Application Process
 Be sure you are using the current application. Check the website for the current copy at
http://www.cmaanorcal.org/scholarships.html. It is in Microsoft Word, and it is required that applicants use
the computer to fill out the Word document with their information. Attachments are to be made in PDF form at
the end of this document (see pages at the end for sequence).
 Verify that you submit a complete application.
 Essays MUST follow the format instructions provided in the Essay section of the application.
 Keep a copy of your complete application package.

Essay Requirements:
Select ONE of the four essay topics listed below:
 Essay must be typewritten or computer-generated using 12-point font and one-inch margins. It must be doublespaced and may not be longer than two (2) single-sided pages on 8 ½” x 11” paper.
 At the top of the first page, include (1) your name, (2) the phrase “2013 Scholarship Application, CMAA
Northern California Chapter,” and (3) the Essay Topic (selected below).
 Attach the Essay in PDF at the end of this application.
