The Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno In the city of troy a king named Julius ruled with no rational thought towards the welfare of his kingdom. He only ever thought about himself and never of others. He never became better and this is how his story ends. “Father, father,” Helen cries. “Helen what do you want right now can’t you see I’m setting off to somewhere important,” King Julius exclaims. “Father I can see that and I’ll wait until you get back to discuss what I wanted to discuss.” King Julius then grabs his jacket and heads out the door into the forest. He walks in the forest for about five minutes when then he arrives at the oracle. “I’ve come to seek my prophecy,” the king says. He waits for the oracle to respond but he doesn’t get one. The oracle just sits there and says nothing just staring at King Julius. “King Julius, you will be feared by everyone except one.” “Your pet will turn on what it used to believe in.” the oracle says. King Julius mind slips into deep thought about what the oracle had said and can’t believe it. “Your pet will also be your destruction,” the oracle finishes. King Julius was so caught up in his thoughts he didn’t catch the last thing the oracle said so he went out to buy a pet. He thought about trying to find a pet in the town and take one from someone. He was about to do that then he came up with a better idea and went to the town witch. When he got there he knocked on the door and waited for an answer. There was no answer so he knocked again. This time there was an answer. “Hello king Julius nice to meet you,” the witch says. “I’m looking for a pet and I want one that’s nice but scary looking and that can become scary,” the king exclaims. “Well then come in I’ve got the thing you’re looking for.” The king walks into the witch’s house and takes a seat on her chair. He looks around while the witch goes and gets the pet. When she comes back she is holding a Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno. “What is that thing,” the king asks. “Well it’s a giant tyrant duck with five eyes called a Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno.” The witch informs the king. “It’s pretty nice right now since it’s only two but in a couple of days that should change.” “When it becomes an adult it’s going to become meaner if you raise it that way and make sure you only feed it meat.” “Right before you release it if you do starve it for a couple of days so it can become hungry.” “What would happen if I do starve it then let it go,” the King Julius asks. “It won’t be able to resist the humans’ meat and it will start killing people to feed it,” the witch informs him. The King says goodbye then leaves the hut with his Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno. He walks through the forest past the oracle and to his castle. He then arrives home and sneaks into the dugong before anyone can notice him. He then locks up his Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno and leaves before anyone sees him. When he gets into the foyer of his castle he runs into Helen. “Father I’m glad your home I wanted to speak to you remember,” Helen says. “Yes I did Helen now you can speak to me.” “I just wanted to say that you really need to run your kingdom better everyone comes to speak to you but you run off before the conversation even begins,” Helen inquires. “Helen I try my best now isn’t it time to go to bed it’s getting late.” Helen listens to her father and goes to bed. A few minutes later Helen wonders out of bed and catches her father outside her door. She then gets up and follows him to the dungeon where she catches of glimpse of the horrible Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno. She then runs back into her room hoping her father didn’t see her and falls asleep. “Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno you will be the destruction of this city and I hope you can live up to that,” King Julius says. “I can master and I will,” the Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno responds. “Good my pet now I’ll be back tomorrow stay put,” the king requested. The Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno listened and stayed put for the rest of the night like the king told him to. The next morning Helen realized that her father was hiding something from her so she set out into the forest. When she got there she called up her friends the rabbit and snake. She told them about what happened and asked them what she should do about it. “I think you should find out more and then try and stop him by making his pet good again,” the snake says. “Terrible idea I say you should kill the king right now while you have the chance,” the rabbit says. “I’m not going to kill my father that’s just cruel right now the snake’s idea is the most rational,” Helen says. “Wait I have one more idea you can chose from I say you go to the oracle and she can see what you should do and if it ends out happy,” the rabbit inquires. “That’s a great idea rabbit thanks,” Helen says as she heads off towards the oracle. She then heads towards the oracles hut. She waits outside the hut looking around to see if it’s the right one. She decides it is and knocks and on the door and starts heading in. “I’ve come to see the oracle,” Helen says. She gets no respond so she says it again. This time she gets a response. “Helen of troy you shall fight for what you believe is right.” “You will destroy something you once loved.” “You will win what you began.” The oracle finishes. Helen pleased with what she just learned leaves the oracle’s hut. The next day she once again sees he father with the monster and waits until he leaves so she herself can speak to the monster. “Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno would you ever do something for the good side,” I ask him. He says, “Yes, I would.” “Ok so let’s begin with do nothing for Julius he’s evil,” I say to him. “Okay but should I try to pretend to be on his side,” he asks me. “Yes, that sounds good and when he tries to go through with his plan I want you to kill him.” “Ok I’ll do that,” he chimes in as I begin to walk away. The next few days goes by and nothing happens until King Julius lets out Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno. I was outside the moment it happened so all I could hear were screams coming from all the Trojans in the city. All King Julius does was sit there and laugh at the Trojans when all of the sudden Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno tries to kill him. The king fights back but he is not strong enough to fight back the Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno. The Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno finally is able to get a good hit and kills the king. “Thanks to Princess Helen I saw I was doing wrong and I came to save the day,” the Titanopentaophtalmoanatotyranno says as he flies away. Everyone then went into the palace and celebrates the king’s death. Princess Helen then ruled the city of Troy alongside her king in peace or at least until the Trojan War. Reflection Questions What type of myth did you write? I wrote a type of myth that had magical stuff that couldn’t really happen in real life like talking animals. Also, my myth had an evil king who wanted to destroy his kingdom. I also add an oracle ad people believing in prophecies which is also a type of myth. So, I wrote a mixture of the three. Why did you choose to write this myth? I wrote this myth because I liked the story of the Trojan War and I wondered what happened to Helen I troy before the war. Also, I really didn’t know where this myth could take place so I just chose troy. I also wrote this because I liked the concept of an evil king destroying his kingdom. Therefore, I wrote a myth about an evil king in troy. What was the easiest part of writing this myth? Why? The easiest part of writing this myth was deciding what characters I should add. I think that was the easiest part because I didn’t add a lot of characters and I really didn’t need to because I didn’t want it to be too long. It was also easy because used names I’ve hear people having in ancient Greece. What was the most difficult part of writing this myth? Why? The most difficult part was the dialogue. I thought it was difficult to write because of all the rules that come with it. It was also difficult to write because you have to show a characters personality through it and that was difficult. It was also difficult trying to find places where dialogue fit. What part of the myth gives you the greatest sense of pride? Why? The part of the myth that gives me a sense of pride is the oracle. I think this because I think I did well creating prophecies an oracle would really give to someone. What part of the myth still could use some work? Why? The part of the myth that could use some work is the dialogue. I say that because I don’t think I did well making the characters come alive. I think it could use some work because I always forgot that a period or comma had to be inside the quotation marks. Also, I think it could use some work because I don’t know the right times t place it in my writing so it’s just like put in thee at random points in the myth.
