APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE
M.SC./ PG. DIP INMINING AND MINERAL EXPLORATION
With the greater necessity to harness the full potential of the minerals sector for national
development, the Department of Earth Resources Engineering of the University of
Moratuwawas introduced a post-graduate programme in mining and mineral exploration in
2013 and now ready for take 2nd batch.
The subject areas to be covered in the taught part of the programme include; Application of
geochemistry and geophysics in mineral exploration, Drilling, borehole logging and reserve
estimation, Minerals and economic mineral deposits, Mine feasibility and planning, Rock
slope engineering, Surface and underground mine survey, Excavation Engineering, Explosive
engineering and rock blasting, Mining and mineral transport, Mine visits and mineral
exploration field camp, Groundwater exploration and water wells, Marine mineral resources
and offshore exploration, Civil engineering practice for mining industry, Mine management
and entrepreneurship, Design project, RS & GIS techniques for mineral industry,
Environmental aspects in mining, Petroleum exploration and well drilling.

Applications are called and the closing date is 15thMarch 2015. The course will be
commencing from June 2015.

Application fee Rs.1000.00 should be deposited at any branch of Bank of Ceylon drown in
favour of University of Moratuwa, Account No. 70993353 through a paying-in –voucher,
collected from the bank. Duly authorized one copy of the paying-in –voucher should be
accompanied with each application. Application fee is non-refundable and application
forwarded without a paying-in –voucher will be rejected.
The completed application form withreceipt of the application fee should be sent by
Registered Post or by handto “Dr. AMKB Abeysinghe, Course Coordinator, M.Sc./PG.Dip.

of Moratuwa”on or before 15th March 2015.Applications are short listed and eligible
