Water Waste Report Form
The goal of the Ramona Municipal Water District’s (RMWD’s) water conservation program is to prevent water waste at all times,
which is especially important when drought conditions exist. The RMWD Board of Directors declared a Drought Response Level 2
“Drought Alert Condition” on August 12, 2014. A summary of mandatory water conservation measures in place as a result of this
action are on the reverse, or page two, of this form.
If you observe water use that is inconsistent with the conservation measures in place, please let us know by filling out the form below.
RMWD will promptly review your concern and work with the customer to reach compliance. Anonymous reports are not accepted.
Although RMWD does not share the source of a report with the customer account in question, any information provided may be
subject to public disclosure as required by law. RMWD is also not able to share customer account or usage information with anyone
other than the account holder and/or property owner. If you are the reporting party and not associated with the customer account,
please be assured that we will address the matter appropriately and refrain from calling to check on the status or outcome of your
report.
If you continue to see water waste after filing a report, one of the following explanations is likely: 1) Not enough information was
provided, such as an exact address or description of waste observed; 2) The property is not using RMWD potable water (i.e. using
well water, not in RMWD’s jurisdiction, utilizing reclaimed or recycled water); 3) A watering variance may have been granted.

Drought Response Level 2: Drought Alert Condition
The following mandatory water conservation measures apply during a Drought Alert Condition:

Irrigate residential and commercial landscape a maximum of two (2) days per week, before 10 a.m.
and after 6 p.m. only. (November - May reduce to a maximum of one (1) watering day per week).
This does not apply to commercial growers or nurseries.

Limit lawn watering and landscape irrigation using sprinklers to no more than ten (10) minutes per
watering station per watering day (this provision does not apply to landscape irrigation systems
using water efficient devices, including but not limited to: weather based controllers, drip/micro
irrigation systems and rotating nozzles).

No irrigation during a rainstorm and for 48 hours after measurable rainfall.

Stop washing down paved surfaces, including but not limited to sidewalks, driveways, parking lots,
tennis courts, or patios, except when it is necessary to alleviate safety or sanitation hazards.

Stop water waste resulting from inefficient landscape irrigation, such as runoff, low head drainage,
or overspray, etc. Similarly, stop water flows onto non-targeted areas, such as adjacent property,
non-irrigated areas, hardscapes, roadways, or structures.

Use a hand-held hose equipped with a positive shut-off nozzle, a bucket or low-volume non-spray
irrigation to water landscaped areas, including trees and shrubs located on residential or
commercial properties that are not irrigated by a landscape irrigation system.

Repair all water leaks within seventy-two (72) hours of notification by the District unless other
arrangements are made with the General Manager.

Irrigate nursery and commercial grower's products before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. only. Watering is
permitted at any time with a hand-held hose equipped with a positive shut-off nozzle, a bucket, or
when a drip/micro-irrigation system/equipment or rotating nozzles are used. Irrigation of nursery
propagation beds is permitted at any time. Watering of livestock is permitted at any time.

Wash vehicles using a bucket and a hand-held hose with a positive shut-off nozzle, mobile high
pressure/low volume wash system, or at a commercial site that re-circulates (reclaims) water onsite. Avoid washing during hot conditions when additional water is required due to evaporation.

Serve and refill water in restaurants and other food service establishments only upon request.

Offer guests in hotels, motels, and other commercial lodging establishments the option of not
laundering towels and linens daily.

Stop operating ornamental fountains or similar decorative water features unless recycled water is
used.

Use recycled or non-potable water for construction purposes when available and feasible.

No irrigation with potable water of ornamental turf on public street medians.
