Student NOT found eligible for speech/language services Meeting held to discuss results of evaluation with parent/guardian Process Ends. A Meeting is held to discuss the results of evaluation with parent/guardian. The parent has 2 options at this time: 1) Discuss only the results of the evaluation ONLY (two meetings will be needed, one to discuss the evaluation, one to discuss the IEP) OR… 2) Discuss the results of the evaluation AND hold the IEP meeting immediately afterward (one meeting) The IEP meeting must be held within 30 days of the evaluation The IEP meeting The IEP team (SLP, parent(s)/guardian, classroom teacher, other supporting teachers and a representative from the administration – principal/counselor, etc.) discuss the student’s strengths and needs and develop a plan containing goals for the year. The student may qualify for direct therapy, based upon the results of the evaluation. They may also need modifications in the classrooms to accommodate for speech/language problems – these are called Specially Designed Instruction (SDIs). A draft IEP will be proposed The parent(s)/guardian will have an opportunity to add input, ask questions, and request revisions to the proposal The IEP proposed is not “active” (modifications and therapies are not provided) until the parent approves the proposed IEP by signing the Notice of Recommended Educational Placement or NOREP MaryTherese Sabatino M.S., CCC-SLP 2012
