Draft agenda for workshop GMES services and emission inventories at the European Environment Agency Copenhagen, Denmark 10-11 October 2011 Purpose of the workshop This workshop brings together the emission inventory, satellite observation, in-situ observation and atmospheric modelling communities. This with the aim to showcase existing collaboration and activities as well as to highlight options where in the near future inventories could support GMES services and where GMES services and other observational datasets could improve emission inventory information for science and policy. As shown in the agenda below the workshop will be organized around specific themes and questions and the results of the discussion and presentations will be combined into an EEA technical report highlighting existing and potential linkages between inventory data, GMES services and observational datasets together with a list of requirements how to improve the linkages between datasets and communities. Presentation of recent studies, discussion and exchange of ideas aimed at: - Identifying GMES observational datasets that can be immediately applied to improve emission inventory (and air quality) information for science and policy application Evaluation of existing and forthcoming GMES observational datasets that are not yet mature or existing but that can potentially be applied by the emission inventory community and policy makers. The outcome of sessions under Theme 2 will be used in an EEA technical report describing a set of requirements for GMES observational data making them suitable for the identified emission inventory improvement purposes.
