St. Francis College’s Center for Entrepreneurship and The New York Chapter of
the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Join Forces to Inspire New
Media and Entertainment Business Models
New York, NY, April 1, 2014 – The Center for Entrepreneurship at St. Francis College announces a
partnership with the The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NY
NATAS) as part of its growing alliance network to support innovative business ventures in New York City.
Together they will act as a sounding board and mentor for new media startups that are shaping the
future of the media and entertainment industry.
“For more than 57 years, the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
has inspired creativity in television. Our industry continues to evolve and is steadily moving to a mobile
TV consumption environment. Television is at the center of all the action, prompting conversations on
second screens and social media channels,” said Jacqueline J. Gonzalez, Executive Director, of the New
York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. “Through our partnership with
the Center for Entrepreneurship at St. Francis College we can mentor startups that create new ways to
experience television.”
Dennis Anderson, Chair of the Department of Business Management and Information Technology and
Executive Chair of the Center for Entrepreneurship at St. Francis College added: “The Center’s mission is
to promote entrepreneurial activities and initiatives in Brooklyn through education, research, and
programs. One of the growth sectors in Brooklyn is digital media. Together with NY NATAS we can offer
programs for media and tech businesses in the Brooklyn Tech Triangle that inspire the next generation
of media and entertainment companies.”
According to the 2013 Report Presented by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, the New
York film industry employs 130,000 New Yorkers, an increase of 30,000 jobs since 2004. Brooklyn is
home to many new media and TV production companies.
