Cedar Mill Little League Post-Season Letter of Commitment Dear Parents and Players, Cedar Mill Little League is preparing to select players for the Post Season. All players who are interested in being considered for selection to any of the Cedar Mill Little League post season tournament teams must submit this form to the CMLL Player Agent. No player can be selected without submitting this form. Please read the following information carefully before submitting this form. Players will be selected based on their playing ability, eligibility and availability. Participation Cost: Approximately $75 per player. Financial scholarships are available. All-Star shirts, jackets, etc. are additional, and may be available for purchase. Attendance Requirements: CMLL post-season teams play in very competitive District 4 tournaments. This level of play requires our teams to work very hard to maximize talents and be competitive. Consequently, the teams will plan on practicing daily (some teams may practice twice a day) and playing some practice games in the weeks prior to the tournaments. This is a big commitment and the players are required to make this team their priority, or they will not be considered for selection. The managers will have the option to dismiss a player for lack of attendance. This means sports camps, family vacations, and other sports teams must be postponed until the completion of these post-season baseball tournaments. Tournament Rules: All-Star tournaments do not bat the roster. A nine player batting order is used and National Little League Substitution Rules will apply. The players have a minimum playing requirement of one at-bat and six consecutive outs in the field in each game. There are rules restricting re-entry and substitutions. Consequently, playing time will not be distributed evenly. These are competitive teams, and the games will be managed to maximize the chance of victory. Players will be probably asked to play positions that they did not play in the regular season. It is important that you discuss these things with your player before you submit this form, to avoid any potential disappointment. We also recommend that you read “All-Stars Experience” (http://www.cmllonline.org/post_season) on the CMLL website for additional perspective. All-Star tournament winning teams move on to the Oregon State Tournament. Players need to be committed to the team for as long as the team is victorious, potentially all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in August. Honors tournaments have less stringent rules. Teams bat the rosters and have free defensive substitutions. This format can allow for more evenly distributed playing time. Honors tournament winners do not advance to a State Tournament. Honors teams are finished after the District tournament. Schedule: Tournaments typically are formatted with pool play followed by single elimination. Tournaments typically take seven days to complete. The dates for the tournaments are as follows… 9/10 All-Stars… District tournament starts on 6/27 at Westlake Park in Lake Oswego. District winner advances to State tournament in Hermiston starting on 7/25. 9/10 All-Stars do not advance past State tournament 10/11 All-Stars… District tournament starts on 6/27 at Cook Park in Tigard. The 10/11 and 11/12 year old teams will be selected by ballot by the Majors managers. Players will be nominated for the ballots by the Majors managers.
