This is an introductory course to contemporary Japanese. Prior knowledge in the Japanese language is helpful but not necessary. It is the hope that each student will appreciate the Japanese language and its culture through literature and native speakers. Materials: 100 sheet notebook Pen/Pencil (blue or black ink only) Optional – Japanese-English/English-Japanese Dictionary Standards: The following Common Core State Standards, Guam Department of Education Standards and Expected School-Wide Learning Results are taught in class. Johnston Middle School rules. These rules are all stated in the school’s handbook. Classroom rules are as follows: 1. Respect each other and each other’s property. 2. Follow directions and be prepared at all times. 3. No Food and Drinks allowed. Maintain Classroom cleanliness. 4. Study and Work Hard. In following the rules and maximizing class time, other expectations are as follows. Off limit areas: The white/chalkboard, teacher’s desk and buttons on the walls are off limits. When a teacher is speaking, students are listening. Only 3 corridor passes are issued each day. Each pass will only be given when the teacher is not speaking. Electronic devices are prohibited unless accompanied with signed permission of the Fair Use Technology Form. The teacher is not responsible for lost items.
