SANTA FE OPERA ITINERARY
Tuesday, August 25
New Mexico, the “Land Of Enchantment” here we come! Traveling south on I-25 our morning
leg-stretcher will be in Pueblo. Southern Colorado scenery at its best, picturesque Raton Pass
at 7,834 feet on the Santa Fe Trail is a federally designated National Historic Landmark. Raton
is Spanish for “mouse”. Lunch will be at K-Bob’s Steakhouse in Raton, New Mexico. Onward to
the seat of old world charm in the Wild West, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Santa Fe, meaning “holy
faith” was founded in 1610.

Wednesday, August 26
Start the morning off with a full hot buffet breakfast at Inn Of The Governors! Our Santa Fe
experience begins with an open-air tram tour of the historic District of Santa Fe. We’ll be back
in time for lunch, so you may relish the cuisine that Santa Fe has to offer on your own. Later
this afternoon we have an hour-long, Santa Fe Opera Back Stage Tour. Just down the hill from
the theater, we’ll enjoy a delightful pre-opera buffet dinner which includes wine, dessert and
concludes with a 25-minute introductory lecture about our evening’s performance, “The
Daughter Of The Regiment”. Born to wealth, the vivacious Marie is found as an infant on a
battlefield and raised by soldiers who dote on her.

Thursday, August 27
A full hot buffet breakfast awaits you again this morning! Our “Churches of Enchantment Tour”
enables us to visit three of Santa Fe’s most beautiful churches; Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis
of Assisi, San Miguel Chapel and First Presbyterian Church. Our elegant lunch complete with
china, glassware and fine linens will be served in the solarium of Clarice Coffey’s private home.
It is so unique it has been featured on HGTV (Home Gardening TV). A tour of the home and
gardens will precede lunch. An explanation of her personal collection of religious art from her
travels around the world will be discussed at the conclusion of the meal. Back to our lodging
with free time and dinner on your own.
INCLUSIONS: Breakfast, Tram Tour, Home & Garden Tour and Lunch_____________________
Friday, August 28
Last chance for the buffet breakfast! Sit back and reminisce about your Santa Fe experience
and the new friends you’ve met along the way. Meandering to Trinidad, CO, we’ll stop at
Tequila’s Family Mexican Restaurant for lunch! Colorado Springs will be our afternoon break
stop before Anthem and home!
