West Mains School
December Newsletter
Hello Everyone,
As Christmas is fast approaching I hope you are organised with shopping for presents and
posting cards. The mild weather has been a bonus but the children are all waiting for it to
snow!
Room 1 will be delivering the Christmas post to all the boys and girls in West Mains. Please
make sure you write the child’s name and room on the front of the envelope. Christmas cards
are a great opportunity for the children to practise their writing skills!
Parents Night
We hope you found our recent Parents Evening useful and informative. Parents of children in
Room 4 can contact Ms. Simmons to arrange an alternative date. Please sign your child’s
targets and return them to the school.
Morrisons’ Vouchers
Many thanks for your help collecting Morrisons’ vouchers. We have ordered new painting
aprons and new wellies.
Church Visit
We had a lovely visit to Lindsey’s church for our recent assembly. The children enjoyed the
novelty of going on the mini bus and the juice and biscuit provided by Joan afterwards.
Road Safety Calendar Competition
Well done to Elspeth Deuchars, Haydin Archer, Lisa Watson, Lloyd Bell, Kieran McLatchie
and Adam Jankiewicz who all received Highly Commended certificates for their Road Safety
Calendar entries.
Children in Need
On Friday 14th November we had lots of fun taking part in the activity afternoon to raise
money for Children in Need. We raised £27.70. Many thanks to those who donated.
Dress Down Day
Everyone enjoyed our Dress Down day for St Andrew’s day. Taylor O’Brien brought in a
Scotland Flag for everyone to sign. We raised £35.
Christmas Activities
Pantomime Trip
We are going to Motherwell Theatre on Thursday 4th December to see Cinderella. The cost
of this outing is £560. We ask every pupil to pay only £7 each to help towards the cost. The
school fund subsidises the outstanding amount. Thank you to all who have paid, and can we
take this opportunity to remind those who have still to pay that this payment is now due.
Our Nativity – “Away In a Manger”
Our Nativity Performance of ‘Away in a Manger’ will be on Friday 12th December at 10.00.
There is no charge for the concert. However there will be a raffle for a hamper, tea and
coffee (donations welcome) and children’s enterprising crafts will be on sale. The hamper is
donated by staff but we welcome donations from parents too.
