Divisions (all ages as of January 1, 2013) A. B. C. D. Beginners– Open to riders age 12 and under. Entries will walk and trot/jog. Novice Rider/Green Horse - Open to riders 13 through 99 years old. Entries will walk and trot/jog. Juniors – Riders 15 years and under. Entries will walk, trot/jog and canter/lope. Senior/Adult – Riders age 16 through adult. Entries will walk, trot/jog and canter/lope. General Rules 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. This show is run following the Guidelines for Vermont 4-H Horse Shows, as applicable. All riders 18 and under must wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet while mounted on the show grounds. The judge’s decision is final. No alcoholic beverages on the grounds. Stallions over one year of age must be handled by a handler that is at least 19 years old. Please consider leaving dogs at home. Any dog at the show must be on a leash. Chaps are not allowed in equitation classes. No tie downs, drop/flash nose bands or hackamores except for the games section of the horse show. Refunds will be given only in the case of illness/injury/accident of rider or horse. A Vet or Physicians note is required. Negative Coggins and Rabies certificate must be shown for entry to grounds. Please mail a copy in with your entry. Coggins must be within 12 months of show date. Each horse and rider is considered a riding unit and must obtain a number. Show management reserves the right to change the order of classes before or during the show and combine or cancel classes. Any horse/rider combination that enters any Beginner or Novice/Green Horse/Rider class cannot show in any class with cantering/loping at the show (games included). The judge reserves the right to excuse any unsafe horses at any time. MID-STATE RIDING CLUB 60th Annual Open Horse Show Class List 1. Open Halter – 3 years and over 2. Fitting and Showmanship: A. Trail (English and Western Combined) Trail Class is run outside the ring and begins at 9:30 and ends at 12:00. Riders may come in any order and are responsible for completing trail class by noon. A. Beginner B. Novice Rider/Green Horse C. Junior D. Senior/Adult 6. Lead line: Riders 10 years old and under 7. Lead-line Trail: 10 and under. (Class held in the arena) 8. Hunter under Saddle (Entries will walk, trot and canter) 9. Hunter Hack (Entries will walk, trot, canter and jump 2 fences) 10. Hunter Hack - Walk Trot (Entries will walk and trot and jump two fences) 11. Western Reining 12. Stick Horse (6 and under). Bring your favorite stick horse and show your stuff! Lunch Break will occur promptly at noon and be followed by Costume Class (classes will resume after costume if necessary) _________________________________________ 13. Costume Class Awards: Division and High Point Championships will be awarded. _________________________________________ Games A portion of Entry Fees from these classes will be donated to a charity. 14. Command Class: Walk/Trot 15. Ring on a Cone: Walk/Trot, no Cantering. Riders drop rings over 3 cones, a timed event. 17. Charmin Break Away/ Pairs: Ride in pairs at walk and trot. Riders hold a piece of toilet paper between them. Winning pair hold the toilet paper intact the longest. 18. Pole Bending: Walk/Trot 19. Pole Bending: Walk/Trot/Canter 20. Table Top Caper: Walk/Trot. Ride to a “table”, dismount onto the “table”, lead horse around the “table”, remount from “table” and race back to finish line. A timed event. 21. Table Top Caper: Canter 22. Barrel Race: Walk/Trot 23. Barrel Race: Canter Show High Point: Horse/Rider combination with highest points in Fitting and Showmanship, Equitation, Pleasure, Trail, Hunter under Saddle and Western Reining. Division Championships: Highest points in each division for Fitting and Showmanship, Equitation, Pleasure and Trail.
