You will never groom your brows like you did in
2014
Thick brows quickly became a
haunting trend in 2014, but while
they look great on some they look
devastating on others. Other
brow trends like the “ombre
brow” , and the one dimensional
“sharpie brow” have also been
popular, making me want to shriek!
I mean, do you really need to spend
an additional 10 minutes fading
your brows in? The look is
extremely obvious and to be frank,
distracting. I myself have been
guilty of practicing these brow
trends, and over highlighting the
brow bone, both top and bottom.
But then I started playing around
with different options. I wanted to
figure out what the most
practical way to do my brows was,
and what would look the most
natural. I stumbled upon
Stilla Cosmetics Stay All Day
Water Proof Brow Pen and it
is fantastic! The pen its self is
very fine, giving you control
to make precise hair strokes
that mimic your natural brow
hairs. I find that once you
complete the strokes and
brush lightly with a brow
brush you can make the effect
even more natural looking!
The pens come in light, medium,
and dark. Xtreme Lash Has a
pretty amazing brow system.
Their brow pen has a tip that is
a bit thicker, but fine enough
at the tip to create hair like
strokes. Just like the Stilla
Pen, you can also control the
thickness, and lightly brush
out the product for a more
natural effect. Xtreme Lash
also offers a brow/lash
growth serum called
AMPLIFEYE. I love this product
because my brows, and lashes
are so much fuller, and I can
control where I want my hair
to grow in by controlling my
Grooming And Shaping Your Brows
application.
Customizing your
brows for your face
shape can be tricky,
and finding a
trustworthy brow
specialist can be even
trickier! Whether you
tweeze, wax, thread,
or use depilatory
creams using the
right
measurements is vital. Make
sure to communicate with your
brow specialist about the
shape that you want. And be
specific about what you don’t
want. Communication is KEY!

Believe it or not, your prescription medication
could be causing your skin harm. It’s true that
we are what we eat, and our bodies are
sensitive to what we absorb. So how can
medications that are supposed to help us be
harmful to our largest most exterior organ of our
bodies? And what are they?
By now, most of us have
experienced irritating breakouts
sometimes caused by our monthly
visitor, a reaction to dairy and
sugar, minor allergies, birth
control, and even other
medications. This is crazy because
sometimes, severe acne is treated
with oral medications and
antibiotics.
Most of my life I have had clear
skin with an even radiant tone,
until I was diagnosed with systemic
lupus in 2010. When I started my
treatments my doctor warned me
of all the side effects, I took them
lightly because for the first
month or so I didn’t really notice
any side effects that would alter
my appearance. Some of the
medications I was on were
Prednisone, which is a cortico
steroid. Methotrexate, which is an
oral low dose of chemo therapy,
Azathioprene, which is an organ
rejection medication. These
medications have everything to do
with medicine-induced acne, and
caused me to have cystic acne
breakouts all over my face. It
appeared literally over night and
sometimes I could even feel them
during the second they were
flaring. I was not an esthetician
during the first time I had to deal
with this, so I was popping my
pimples, using pro active, and
rubbing alcohol, thinking that it
would help, in turn, using those
products actually destroyed my
skin because of how thin it was
from the medication. I’m telling
you, my skin was dry, chafed,
inflamed, and stressed out!
Nothing was working. My doctor
told me that the only way the acne
would stop, is if I stopped taking
the medication, but that would be
dangerous. I lived with it for
about a year or so. I made sure to
keep my makeup brushes clean, I
washed my face 2x, sometimes, even
3x’s a day, and I never slept in my
makeup. It helped somewhat, but I
really wanted to know what it was
about these specific medications
that caused acne flares.
In my research to find out why
steroids cause acne, I found that
they impair the body’s natural
immunity against infection and
disease, makes your skin more
sensitive to sunlight
(photosensitivity) In addition to
that, steroids induce hormones.
Androgens, including
testosterone and estrogen are
being released in the body, to
work with the hormones that you
are already producing, or
sometimes not producing. This
throws your hormone levels way
off, making it difficult for your
body to process. Steroids cause
an increased production of sebum
causing your pores to clog and
inducing inflammation. You may
have heard about how having
sweets will trigger acne
inflammation too right? Well
prednisone actually induces
elevated glucose levels, which
can impair your body’s natural
ability to produce insulin
properly. Meaning, It basically
triples your sugar intake. Why is
this bad for your skin? Because
consuming sugar lowers your
immune response, breeds illness
and disease, and promotes
premature aging of the skin. It’s
amazing that one tiny pill can
cause all of this drama for your
skin!
I just wanted to share this
information because I had no idea,
about the effects of steroids, and
maybe there is someone out there
who is going through the same
thing! Hopefully not, but because
prednisone is a common treatment
for many illness and disease, I have
a feeling that someone will find
this useful.

Control Corrective has a
Control
corrective
has a 10% Gly lotion that I use
at night, about 3 times a week.
The glycolic acid helps speed the
process of exfoliation and
diminishes hyperpigmentation
and fine lines.
Dermalogica’s
skin refining masque is great
because it helps to control the
excess sebum, but its gentle
enough to use every day. I leave
it on for about 10 minutes 2-3
times a week.
Control
Corrective’s
02 Med is amazing. This lotion
delivers oxygen directly to the
acne infected area. Acne can’t
survive where there is oxygen.
So This product is a savoir! I put
this on first thing after toner,
then I continue with the rest of
my regiment.
