st
Welcome!
Welcome to Argus High School. Each Wednesday you will be attending an advisory class with your
advisor. Please listen carefully to the advisory bulletin. A great deal of valuable information, including
opportunities for extra credits/classes, is done through this class. Once you have completed a subject
area, and need a class change, your advisor is also the person that will request the change.
ASP (0 or 9th period)
Argus students can take a make-up class through the ASP program. Each passing term the student
earns 1 credit. AM students can attend 0 period and PM students can attend 9th period. ASP
registration forms will be distributed in advisory classes on Wednesday, August 20th. See the
registration form for class offerings and times.
Academic Extended Day (AED) Night School Classes
High school students can make-up an English or Social Studies class through AED. Classes will be 2
nights per week, 6 pm – 9 pm, and will run from September 8th – December 11th. A completed class
is worth 5 credits in that subject area. Registration forms will be distributed to interested students
during advisory class on August 20th.
ROP (Regional Occupational Program)
Ceres High School and Central Valley High School have a LIMITED number of openings in ROP classes.
ROP classes are YEAR LONG job training classes. Students must have excellent attendance, good
behavior and reliable transportation to the ROP School to apply. 11th & 12th grade advisory teachers
have ballots. Completed ballots are to be returned by Friday, August 15th. If the ROP class conflicts
with the time a student attend school, Argus sessions can be changed.
Adult School Classes (Night School)
These classes are primarily for adult students pursuing an adult school diploma. High School students
can concurrently enroll in an adult school class in the spring semester (January) if they are working on
the 170 credit adult diploma.
Community Service/Volunteer Work
Students must complete an application and have a placement approved BEFORE hours worked can
count towards credit. One elective credit is earned for every 15 hours worked. To qualify for
community service a student must have passed their classes the prior term. Applications for volunteer
work will be available beginning September 2rd. Student can propose a placement or be placed at an
area elementary school.
