2013-2014 GRADUATE EQUITY FELLOWSHIP
The office of Research and Graduate Studies is proud to announce the Graduate Equity
Fellowship. The primary objective of the Graduate Equity Fellowship Program is to prepare,
encourage, and support the graduate students who aspire to obtain a doctorate and pursue an
academic career in teaching and research. Applicants must have a faculty mentor who will assist
them in this pursuit as well as their research. While the project may be part of the student’s
thesis, it is not a requirement. The maximum award is $4,500 per academic year and eligible
students may apply for up to two years of support.
Who is eligible?
In order to be eligible to compete for this Fellowship, a graduate student MUST:
 Have a current FAFSA or a California Dream Application on file. The student must
have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of $1,500 or lower.
 Continuing graduate students must have a 3.5 GPA.
 New graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above and be
admitted to the university and into a Master’s program (i.e. classified or conditionally
classified).
 Awardees must be officially enrolled as a graduate student of California State
University, Northridge for both Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters.
 Post-baccalaureate unclassified (PBU), 2nd BA/BS students, Credential students, and
International students are NOT eligible.
*NOTE: The Graduate Equity Fellowship is awarded through Financial Aid, and will be
processed like a scholarship. Your financial aid package may be adjusted to avoid financial aid
overpayment.
What must you do if selected as a graduate fellow?
1. Must achieve and maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete 6 units of coursework per
semester.
2. Must work with a faculty member who will collaborate with you on projects related
to your research.
3. Must submit an application to present an oral or poster presentation for the 18th
Annual CSUN Student Research Symposium on Friday, February 14, 2014.
All requirements must be met for continuing support of this program. Late and/or
incomplete applications will not be accepted.
