Week of 11/15
I can use ratios and proportions to solve a variety of equations.
I can find patterns and use variables to represent them.
Monday:
Bell Work: Division practice worksheet
Instructional Input: Review with students for the test using workbook pages 123-128 as
well as examples from test form b in the teacher’s text.
Students will then complete the Unit 3 test.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect tests and review sheets and grade for comprehension.
Tuesday:
Bell Work: Workbook page 129
Instructional Input: Allow 5 minutes for completion of workbook 129. As a whole group
work through Lesson 1 of Unit 4 of the Transmath text. The I do portion of the lesson should be
given through examples from the teacher and student textbook. Use workbook pages 130 &
131 for we do exercise. Students should then complete textbook pages 306 -308 for you do
portion of lesson.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect 306-308 and grade for completion/comprehension
Wednesday:
Bell Work: Workbook page 132
Instructional Input: Allow 5 minutes for completion of workbook 132. As a whole group
discuss and work through Lesson 2 of Unit 4 of the Transmath text. The I do portion of the
lesson should be given through examples from the teacher and student textbook. Use
workbook pages 134 & 135 for we do exercise. Students should then complete textbook pages
313-315 for you do portion of lesson.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect 313 - 315 and grade for completion/comprehension
Thursday:
Bell Work: Workbook page 136
Instructional Input: Allow 5 minutes for completion of workbook 136. As a whole group
discuss and work through Lesson 3 of Unit 4 of the Transmath text. The I do portion of the
lesson should be given through examples from the teacher and student textbook. Use
workbook pages 137-137 for we do exercise. Students should then complete textbook pages
306 -308 for you do portion of lesson.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect 322 & 323 and grade for completion/comprehension
Friday
Bell Work: Workbook page 140
Instructional Input: Allow 5 minutes for completion of workbook 140. As a whole group
work through Lesson 4 of Unit 4 of the Transmath text. The I do portion of the lesson should be
given through examples from the teacher and student textbook. Use workbook page 141 for we
do exercise. Students should then complete textbook pages 329-331 for you do portion of
lesson.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect 329-331 and grade for completion/comprehension

Monday:
Bell Work: Punctuation worksheet - Capitalization
Instructional Input: Students will be given 5 minutes to complete bell work.
Discuss the movie, “Super Size Me” and what argument Morgan gave about McDs. How did he
back this up etc. Use a graphic organizer as a whole group to discuss. Discuss the issue of McDs
and happy meal toys currently in the press. Students should create their own graphic organizer
on why this practice should or should not change. Students will write a paragraph using this
information. Students will be given 20 minutes to complete the paragraph. If time allows finish
film

Tuesday: ••••Library Day 1:40 - 2
Bell Work: Punctuation worksheet - Capitalization
Instructional Input: Students will be given 5 minutes to complete worksheet for bell
work. Group discussion, students should fill out Cornell note sheet, on Elements of Lit, use
textbook pages 2 & 3 to review this information as needed. Practice plotting using graphic
organizer and a children’s picture book.
After returning from the library students will Begin reading “The Wise old Woman.”
Stopping at page 7 discuss what is taking place with the village at this time and list reasons for
and against such a practice. Students should do a quick write paragraph to back up their point
of view on this issue. Finish reading the story and discuss how it pertains to the discussion on
Assessment/Evaluation: Students will participate in discussions and take notes. Check
that notes are being taken in their lit notebooks.
Wednesday
Bell Work: Punctuation – ending marks
Instructional Input: Students should complete 10 of the 20 vocabulary words for “The
Monkey’s Paw.” This should be completed in the Lit notebook in the format of own words
definition/picture/sentence using the word. This should take approximately 25 minutes. As a
whole group discuss the vocab words and their meaning. Begin reading the story on page 84 of
the text pausing to discuss what is taking place as well as the elements of literature in the story.
Quick write what would your family do in this situation? Then finish story and discuss what took
place throughout the story and how it affected the characters as well. Students should
complete questions 1 – 3 in their lit notebooks from page 100.
Assessment/Evaluation: Check for understanding, students should complete the
assignments appropriately
Thursday:
Bell Work: Given article students will read the article and write a persuasive quick write
in favor of or against the information presented.
Instructional Input: Students will write a reaction to the article they are given. Article
and their opinion will then be discussed. Discuss Comparing and Contrasting of two different
things. Work through an example as a group. Then read the story “The Third Wish” discussing
the story through out the reading. Students should then compare “The Third Wish” and “The
Monkey’s Paw” using the chart on page 108 as an example in their Lit notebooks as well as
answering questions 1-5 on page 108.
Friday:
Bell Work: None
Instructional Input: Students will complete the District quarterly assessment to start
class. They should be allowed at least 20 minutes for this assessment; additional time may also
be needed. Following the assessment students will be given a 10-minute “brain break”. If
needed finish reading/writing assignment from Thursday. Read and discuss pages 134 & 135 on
Character. Students should then complete the chart on page 135 and use a character from one
of the stories we have read about this year or they may choose to use a character in a popular
TV show.
