SPOTLIGHT
Robert Davidson, ’89, is First Vice President - Financial Advisor for Morgan
Stanley Smith Barney in Columbia. He is also one of the founding advisors of
the Davidson-McNair Group in the company. From 1989 to 1993, Bob was a
Captain for Military Intelligence in the US Army. At Davidson, he was Eminent
Archon and Rush Chairman and played varsity football. Bob also enjoys
hunting, fishing, and kayaking. Married to Donnelly, he can be reached at

Warren R Lackey ’83 is a financial advisor with the Edward Jones Investments Company in High
Point. He writes: “Any alumnus or undergraduate seeking a career in investments and financial

John W Mann, III is an orthopedic surgeon with the Carilion Clinic in
Roanoke, VA. In practice since 1997, he graduated from the University of
Virginia Medical School where he also completed his residency. His
specialties include hip fractures and dislocations as well as knee ligament
injuries. John’s fellowship was knee reconstruction at Beth Israel Hospital.

from UGA). I live in Statesboro, Ga., with my wife Suzanne. I have two sons, L.B., a UGA grad, and
Grant, graduating from Georgia Southern this Summer. (Sadly, both are brothers in Sigma Chi).” His

Changes to Rush
For the first time in recent memory, Davidson is changing the rush rules and how the freshmen
are being recruited by fraternities. There will no longer be a fall semester rush period. Instead,
rush will be moved to the first 3 weeks of the spring semester. Specific Patterson Court events
will be scheduled in the fall to allow interaction with freshmen. In the past rush was all
semester long in the fall, and bids were issued to recruit freshmen for the spring.
