The idea is to choose at least one from each row on the grid so that all the skills are being practised. The harder the task the higher the points score but please don’t overdo it – a balance with everything else is best. Try to match the task to what you know your child can do and likes doing. Remember – reading is the first skill – Regular signed reading is the expectation. Developing Mental Maths skills is also essential, hence the focus on Multiplication Tables/Mental Maths skills on the ‘At a Glance’ Sheet. Your child has a homework book to collect and present their chosen tasks. Sometimes just a photo or a written note from the home stuck/written onto a page is enough (as with cooking or ‘large creative work’ for example). Mostly they can work in their books and for some tasks they will need access to a computer. Of course, we hope you will join in and support your child. The tasks do vary and hopefully are creative, hands on and fun, but children will still need guidance. We will discuss many of the themes so the children will be familiar with them as the term progresses. The homework books will be checked weekly. Homework books will be issued on a Friday and collected on the subsequent Wednesday. All homework books and projects will need to be returned for final sharing, marking and certificates by Wednesday December 10th
