School of Design and Production DEP 4198 or DEP 6198: Special Topics in Design DEP 4298 or DEP 6298: Special Topics in Technology DEP 4398 or DEP 6398: Special Topics in Management POLICY: The Topics course is to be used when a faculty member, wishes to teach a course on a special topic that is not covered in the regular D&P roster of classes. The course can be open to the number of students deemed appropriate by the faculty member. This is not to be taught in the independentstudy format. Rather, active teaching, as in regular classes, is the expectation in the topics series. Students should enroll in the appropriate level for undergraduates (4000) or graduate (6000) PROCEDURE: For a Topics course the appropriate form must be filled out with full and complete information about readings, projects, activities and methods of evaluation. The faculty member teaching the course will assure, by his or her signature on the form, that the Topics course meets the accepted and reasonable standards of rigor and evaluation for coursework in the School of Design and Production. The completed Topics Course Form will then be examined, revised if necessary, approved and signed by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs of the School of Design and Production. The signature of the Assistant Dean is intended to be an additional assurance of rigor of the class.
