Request for Notice of Interest to Apply – 2015-16 Grant Program Year Due Date: January 23, 2015 Washington Campus Compact (WACC) invites colleges and universities in Washington interested in participating in the 2015-16 VISTA Program to submit a Notice of Interest to Apply. WACC will submit a renewal grant proposal to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) in January for 2015-16 funding of the VISTA Program and is interested in identifying current and potentially new higher education program partners. Washington Campus Compact will issue a Request for Proposal for the WACC AmeriCorps*VISTA Program in February 2015 and proposals will be due in April 2015. By submitting a Notice of Interest to Apply, your institution is not obligated to submit a proposal. There is also no guarantee that your institution will be selected to participate in the 2015-16 WACC AmeriCorps*VISTA Grant Program. The Notice of Interest to Apply is for planning purposes only and to assist Washington Campus Compact in identifying the number of full-time AmeriCorps*VISTA members our higher education program partners may need for the 2015-16 program year. What is Washington Campus Compact? Washington Campus Compact is a statewide coalition of college and university presidents and their institutions who are committed to strengthening communities through education and civic engagement. For more information: www.wacampuscompact.org What is the VISTA Grant Program? The WACC AmeriCorps* VISTA program places full-time AmeriCorps* VISTA members on campuses to build campus/community partnerships that seek to alleviate poverty through improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged students and veterans, as well as improved access to secure and nutrious food for economically disadvantaged students, veterans and their families. For new applicants, the WACC AmeriCorps*VISTA program will prioritize projects that emphasize STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and seek to bolster the number of underrepresented students seeking STEM degrees. WACC AmeriCorps*VISTA members do not perform direct service. They increase organizational capacity by serving as liaisons, leveraging resources and promoting reciprocity between campuses and their identified community partners. Members build infrastructure, secure long-term resources, and recruit, coordinate and train volunteers to create systems that remain long after their service ends. For more information, go to: http://www.wacampuscompact.org/vista P a g e 1|3 What is the Grant Program Period?
