Job Title: Combat Post Traumatic Stress Coordinator Qualifications: Must be an LCSW or LMFT Must be up-to-date on LCSW/MFT requirements. Must be able to supervise interns Must have understanding of addiction, trauma related issues and combat PTS Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with population in a residential setting Prefer excellent experience with and, understanding of addiction issues and how these relate to psychotherapy Knowledge of OIF/OEF conflict and characteristics of population Prefer knowledge of solid clinical skills Prefer basic knowledge of post-traumatic stress, TBI, anxiety and depression Must have knowledge of female veterans issues Must have knowledge of evidence based approaches such as CBT and EMDR Prefer knowledge of assessment and screening tools specific to the veteran population Group facilitation skills preferred Knowledge of how to write curriculum is preferred Knowledge and understanding of facilitation of psycho-education groups is preferred Competence in military culture a must Knowledge of criminal justice system is preferred Must be able to work within a diverse population Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate in English Must be able to comfortably, both mentally and physically, perform all aspects of job description and other duties assigned by supervisor Must have privately owned vehicle, current driver’s license and up to date insurance Veteran status a plus JOB SUMMARY Implements and facilitates the overall Combat PTS Program. Conducts assessments, recommends various treatments, and monitors progress of clients with combat PTS. Handles referrals from staff members regarding possible candidates for the Combat PTS Program. Meets weekly with certain clients as appropriate to deal on an individual basis with their combat PTS related issues. Conducts staff training regarding the treatment of combat PTS. RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES include but are not limited to: Implements and facilitates the overall Combat PTS Program. Leads Combat Support Groups Leads Combat Debrief Groups Meets with selected clients weekly to do assessments, formulate treatment plans, make referrals, and provide counseling. Conducts initial and ongoing assessment of clients with possible combat PTS issues. Updates individual treatment plans regarding combat PTS treatment. Conducts weekly counseling with selected clients. Refers clients as needed. Coordinates treatment with appropriate case manager, employment counselor, and other VVSD staff on a regular basis as appropriate and/or as directed by the Clinical Director. Performs crisis intervention. Assures that each combat Vet is provided appropriate mental health services and utilizes program components that are consistent with the client’s treatment plan. Utilizes knowledge of counseling modalities to match the appropriate treatment to client issues. Monitors clients’ progress on therapeutic issues throughout treatment. Interfaces with other staff as appropriate regarding client needs and progress. Attends the weekly clinical team meetings and conducts staff training Meets weekly with Clinical Director for clinical supervision and with other staff as needed regarding client treatment issues. Attends other clinical meetings as assigned by the Clinical Director. Conducts Staff training when related to combat PTS Pursues continuing education as appropriate to maintain status of licenses and qualifications. Interfaces with Veterans Administration’s PTS programs at the Medical Center, Regional Office and Downtown Veteran Center. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. This position is exempt and pays $55,000 to $60,000 per year with benefits available after 90 day introductory period.
