Description: Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Light work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling.

The Psychotherapist provides psychotherapy to adults and/or children and adolescents in the outpatient clinics, the telemedicine system, and/or on a contractual basis with a clinical affiliate of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine (UNSOM). The position reports to the Chair of PBS.

95% - Psychotherapy / Direct Patient Care

Provide evidenced based psychotherapy to adults and/or children and adolescents in the outpatient clinics and/or through the telemedicine system of UNSOM or on a contractual basis in the clinical service of a PBS Department affiliate/clinical partner

Provide and manage direct patient care in terms of safety and mental health care assistance

Make appropriate referrals to other clinical services

Complete documentation, including treatment notes and billing documents as needed

Provide consultation to community clients on assessment and evaluation, counseling services, outreach, and other related matters pertaining to field of expertise

Consult with physicians on cases requiring medications or with other medical components

5% - Case Management

Ensure accuracy and maintain privacy of patient information and records

Liaison with other clinicians as indicated for patients well-being

The Psychotherapist must make independent clinical decisions directly affecting the health and welfare of patients. Poor professional judgments could lead to a loss of life or to malpractice suits against the employee and/or the University. Unprofessional conduct could result in psychological damage and criminal and/or civil charges filed against the employee.

4. Describe the types of problems, issues, action, communications this position typically takes to the supervisor for resolution and/or consultation. Provide examples. If a line of progression, describe the supervisory consultation at the highest level.

The Psychotherapist is expected to consult with other physicians, staff, and/or Chair, PBS to coordinate and conduct patient care.

6. Minimum requirements of the position. Minimum requirements should be consistent with the Job Evaluation Model . If Line of Progression, minimum requirements must be defined for each range.

Education Experience

Master’s Degree in clinical social work Three years of related professional experience

Relevant Experience : In clinical social work with three combined years of training or experience in psychotherapy such as crisis intervention, suicidality and/or psychosis

Certification and Licensure:

Must be a clinical social worker (LCSW) licensed in the state of Nevada at the time of hire

Knowledge:

Mastery of a body of professional knowledge in psychotherapy

State and federal laws concerning the delivery of psychological and testing services and billing for those service

State and Federal laws and regulations concerning the Health Insurance Portability and

Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Skills in psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention, and group work
