Tuesday October 11, 2011
The Student Government Association of Mt. San Jacinto College met via video conferencing, commencing at 12:30 p.m. on October
11, 2011 in Room 1016-B Telephone-MVC and Room 1111-SJC.

III.Board Reports and Information Items
A. Daniel Tripp reported that SGA had a great time participating in the Harvest Kick-Off and thanked “a 2nd
Chance” for their participation and help for the entire day. He also thanked John Dunne for volunteering for the
Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome. President Tripp asked that all committee members report out at each meeting. He
told the board there is no meeting next week due to the BBQ on MVC. He asked that board members come out and
volunteer for the Susan G. Komen event in Oct 16 th. SGA will help with the booth and walk. Daniel talked about our
visit with Dr. Vincent and that he has agreed to participate in our “Dunk Tank” for MVC Homecoming activities.
B. Kenn Prado reported that the turn out for Gerry Lopez on SJC was ok, but not well attended. He also reported
again about the FREE T-Shirts that will be donated if we can get a tax ID number. They will be gray with the logo.
Kenneth reported that he and other board members from Region 9 are not happy with the disclosure of the SSCCC
President being a registered sex offender and he has stated he will NOT step down. ‘a 2nd Chance” will paint MSJC
on the football field for homecoming.
C. John Dunne reported that he worked all day at the Buddy walk on MVC and cooked hot dogs for 2 hours.
D. Jojivette Castro reported that she attended the Student services Committee Meeting and they are looking at
making more groups eligible for priority registration. They talked about how W’s affect a student.
She talked about race for the Cure and will be out there early on Sat. Jojivette went to the Farmers Fair and
volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. She was representing AAUW and SGA and requested we put Habitat for
Humanity on the next agenda as an Action/ Discussion item.
E. Parisa reported that the Matriculation Committee meeting was cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
F. Michelle Rozo reported that she could come in for her office hours on Thursday.
G. Rebekah Williams asked that “Building the Way” be added to the next agenda as a Discussion/ Action item.
H. Lauren Fiandor reported that she has a football toss game for homecoming activities and can provide a canopy if
needed.

IV.Public Comment
This time is reserved for members of the public to address the Student Government Association on issues not already appearing
on the agenda. A limit of 5 minutes per speaker and 20 minutes per topic shall be enforced.
V.Discussion/Action Items (the following items may be discussed and voted on at this time)

A. Homecoming events and responsibilities-Jessica, Michelle Ana and Jose- games –We will hard boil some eggs for
an egg race, pie eating contest, Sac race and Mumified (Students will be wrapped in toilet paper). Balloon Toss.
B. Movie Mondays SJC-Activity for MVC- Kenneth would like to do a Movie Monday once a month on SJC to start.
He talked to Ron and got permission to do it. SGA would sell popcorn and the café could sell soda
C. Teri Sisco & Brian Twitty-Facilities-Campus Beautification-They did not come to the meeting, but provided
Kenneth with some information. Kenneth had a PowerPoint for this meeting, but it was lost due to a computer
malfunction. They are working on fixing the bricks on SJC and welcome SGA to come up with a few dates we
could provide the manpower to work on some of the problem areas. Green Coalition said they could help with
water-wise plantings. SGA will pick some dates at the beginning of the year before school starts. The Green
Coalition has asked the City of Hemet for help with funding their projects, but don’t think the money can be
spent on SJC because we are in San Jacinto. Jessica and Kenn talked about the bathrooms not being ADA
compliant and the automatic door openers are all broken. DSPS students have to ask people to open doors for
them.

A. MSJC Political Science Club-3 films 11/3/11, 11/17/11 and TBD
B. American Sign Language and Culture Club wants to hold a Halloween Carnival event on Oct 27 th & 28th on
MVC. They would like to have vendors and games and things in front of the LRC in the grassy area.
C. EVDO Fundraiser (Snacks) at Valley Wide and Diamond Valley Recreation-ongoing through the 2011-2012
SY. Reimburse Monica Escamilla for snacks.
D.
Phi Theta Kappa will be hosting David Faber a Holocaust survivor in room 1500 theatre on Thurs Oct 13 th
from 12:00-2:00-admission will be $5
