Class Description:
In this 5th grade math course, the student will utilize Teaching Textbooks 5 to cover the standard
topics, including: addition, subtraction, rounding, multiplication basics, Roman Numerals,
geometric concepts, money, decimals, fractions, regrouping, division, carrying, working with
zeroes, and more.

Learning Goals/Performance Objectives: 4.1.A Quickly recall multiplication facts through 10 X
10 and the related division facts.
4.1.C Represent multiplication of a two-digit number by a two-digit number with place value
models.
5.1.B Determine quotients for multiples of 10 and 100 by applying knowledge of place value
and properties of operations.
5.2.C Given two fractions with unlike denominators, rewrite the fractions with a common
denominator.
5.2.E Fluently and accurately add and subtract fractions, including mixed numbers.
5.2.F Fluently and accurately add and subtract decimals.
5.3.A Classify quadrilaterals.
5.3.B Identify, sketch, and measure acute, right, and obtuse angles.
Learning Activities: The student will complete lessons as per the timeline below, using the
workbook and CD's. Each lesson consists of video instruction and new material practice. Quizzes
are after every 7th lesson. Grades will be automatically calculated via the digital gradebook.
