Dr. Virgil Strickland, a native of Louisville, MS, pursued his undergraduate and graduate studies at Mississippi State University, graduating with a B.S. in English Education and a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Counseling. He then attended the University of Mississippi and received his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration. During his extensive career, Dr. Strickland has served as President and CEO of a consulting group, Headmaster and Principal of various schools, Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Delta State University, Superintendent of the Biloxi and Cleveland School Districts, as well as various other teaching, counseling, and coordinating roles in the Vicksburg Warren School District. His professional affiliations include membership in Phi Delta Kappa - Professional Education Fraternity, Kappa Delta Pi - Education Honorary, Mississippi Association of School Superintendents, American Association of School Administrators, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Mississippi Association of School Business Officials, Mississippi Educational Computing Association, Mississippi Adult Education Association, and Mississippi Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Dr. Strickland and his wife, Jan, have two children and four grandchildren. The students, faculty, and staff at Vicksburg Catholic School graciously welcome the Strickland family and look forward to the leadership and wealth of knowledge and experience he brings with him. Dr. Strickland can frequently be found on campus cheering our teams to victory and substitute teaching a variety of subjects. He begins his position of St. Aloysius principal on July 1st.
