Use a signal phrase/ Author intro EX- According to Virginia Woolf, Peter thought “Clarissa Dalloway is spoilt” (117). OR During Peter’s walk to the House of Commons, he thought to himself that people would think “Clarissa Dalloway is spoilt” (Woolf 117). 2. Embed the quote into a sentence of your own. Original Quote: “Clarissa Dalloway is spoilt” (Woolf 117). EX – During Peter’s walk to the House of Commons, he thought about the way people viewed Clarissa, “Clarissa Dalloway is spoilt” they would think, mainly because of the way she treated her roses (Woolf 117). 3. Analyze the quote in a complete sentence to set the reader up to read it. Then use a colon to connect the two phrases. EX – Peter realized how people of society viewed Clarissa, especially because of the way she treated her roses with such reverence: “Clarissa Dalloway is spoilt” (Woolf 117). Look at the following examples and identify which method of incorporation is used.
