Bob Rodda New Professional Award

Purpose:
The New Professional Award was initiated in 1999 and is presented to an individual who
demonstrates the potential and commitment for excellence in the field of College Unions and
Student Activities. The award was named in honor of Bob Rodda in 2006 for his efforts in
mentoring young professionals.
Criteria:
The nominee:






Makes a significant contribution to campus life at his/her institution
Demonstrates commitment to the College Union or Student Activities field
Is viewed by colleagues as an educator
Displays genuine support and regard for students
Demonstrates commitment to ACUI through regional or association wide involvement
Has been employed as a current full time professional staff member of an ACUI member
institution in the field for five years or less (not less than nine months a year)
Process for Nomination:


Nomination may be submitted by staff or students who have individual membership or
are associated with an ACUI member institution within Region 7 by nomination deadline
Letters of recommendation addressing selection criteria, history of employment, and any
honors and awards received by the nominee as a professional from three of the
following:
o Nominee’s immediate supervisor or another person in a supervising position
o Student Leader
o Peer colleague who has worked with nominee
Process for Selection:





A selection committee will be appointed by the Scholarship and Awards Chair and will
remain anonymous
The selection committee will be composed of five individuals including the following: one
student (undergraduate or graduate), one member of the Regional Leadership Team,
and three other staff members who represent diversity of the region
Regional Representative and Scholarship Awards Chair will serve as ex-oficio members
Awards will be anonymous until recognition of the award recipient at Annual Fall
Regional Conference
A monetary award of $350 will be presented to recipient to be used for any ACUI
(International/Region) services, workshops, conferences, or educational materials
