LORI TAYLOR Accelerated Reader Program
We’ve had so many requests from parents, students and teachers for AR Quizzes for
Lori’s books! Love the program or hate it, we don’t want the kids to miss out because
they don’t get AR points for Holly Wild or the Wild Trail Tales.
We know how busy you teachers are, so in order to make it easy, we’ve prepared
quizzes for each of Lori’s books – ten questions for the chapter books and five
questions for the graphic readers.
These quizzes are in Word documents so that teachers can copy and paste the
information into the Teacher-Made AR Quiz on the Renaissance Learning website.
Below you will find links to a few walk-throughs on uploading Teacher-Made quizzes, in
case you’ve never done one before.

We have provided all of information necessary including word count, ATOS level
(converted from Flesch-Kincaid) and an estimated point total for the book based on:
The exact formula for scoring an Accelerated Reader book is to multiply the reading level plus
10 with the number of words divided by 100,000, i.e.: (10 + Flesch-Kincaid reading level) x
(number of words / 100,000) = Accelerated Reader score.

The AR software may calculate the point total for you when you input the data, but
we’ve included this information as a backup. There is also this site, which calculated a
higher AR point total that I personally think is more appropriate given all the science and
history contained in the Holly Wild books, but it will be up to the teachers to submit the
information as they see fit.
