According to Fitbit Inc.’s Blog, “Continuing our mission to inspire people to lead healthier, more active lives, we’re releasing these three new innovative devices to help reach everyday active or performance health and fitness goals.” On February 20, 2014, Fitbit Inc. had to recall a fitness device called the Force, because of skin irritation called allergic contact dermatitis. The company conducted a series of tests after the recall to find the issues at hand and what was causing the reaction and they came up with two key issues. On October 17, 2014, according to James Park, CEO and Co-Founder of Fitbit, Inc. the only issues determined that people were reacting to were, “either to very small levels of methacrylates, which were part of the adhesives used to manufacture Force or, to a lesser degree, nickel in the stainless steel casing. Methacrylates are commonly and safely used in many consumer products, including cosmetics, adhesive bandages, dental implants, and plexiglass.” Along with the three new releases, Fitbit is also excited to announce that the Fitbit API will provide access to the all-day heart rate and GPS data from the new devices. The Fitbit Charge is now available online for a whopping $129.95. The Fitbit Charge HR and the Surge will both be available in early 2015 in select colors for a pricier choice of the three. Fitbit has set up a whole month of going over what is new with these new devices and is showing more in-depth details on the product line every day on their website. They are The Fitbit Charge, is the reinvented Force. It allows users to track everyday activity such as, steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned and floors climbed. It has an OLED display that differs from the Flex model in that is shows the time of day and real-time stats. It also has an automatic sleep detection that monitors sleep quality.
