AIT Sports Co Duty Manager
Three Year Fixed Term Contract (renewable)
(1 year probation)
AIT Sports Co (a wholly owned subsidiary of Athlone Institute of Technology) has a vision to
become a centre of excellence in providing a holistic approach to sport, fitness and sport
science amongst students, staff, national governing bodies of sport, sports clubs, teams,
businesses and the wider community. AIT Sports Co are further expanding their extensive
sporting facilities this September with the opening of a new gym , group exercise studio,
indoor cycling studio, high performance training area and additional changing room facilities.
Reporting to the AIT Sports Co Operations Manager you will Support all aspects of AIT Sports
Co operations including activities in the AIT International Arena (IAAF indoor athletics track,
gym, studios and high performance training area) GAA and Soccer pitches, sports hall and
outdoor athletics track. This is a hands-on and varied role. Experience instructing group
exercise classes a distinct advantage.
Essential Qualifications

BSc in Sports Science or related field, NCEF/NCEHS Instructors Certificate (or
equivalent)
Desired Qualifications


Business Degree, Degree in Management in Tourism & Sport or related field
UKSCA Accreditation
Key Duties



Deliver service excellence through the implementation of all operational
procedures to ensure the highest levels of customer service. You will be the
first point of contact for all customer enquiries & complaints.
Cash Management – open / close shifts, shift reconciliation, collecting
payment for activities and ensuring adherence to cash control procedure.
Implement the sales and marketing plan to promote facilities, events and
activities including sales promotions and marketing campaigns to create
awareness of the facilities. Support the updating of AIT Sports Website and
other digital marketing channels. Support all membership sales activity.






Support membership sales and promote activities within and outside the
Institute.
Co-ordination and organisation of all events/competitions (athletic, sporting
and non-sporting) managed by AIT Sports Co.
Manage event and contract staff and support sports scientist, gym manager
and gym team including covering breaks, teaching fitness classes and
assisting fitness testing.
Carry out Health and Safety checks and ensure full implementation of health
and safety procedures.
Ensure facilities are set-up for all scheduled activities. Carry out hygiene
checks and cleaning duties as necessary. Maintenance of sports equipment &
first aid equipment.
Administrator for Leisure Management IT system thus ensuring all AIT Sports
co bookings for facilities and activities are scheduled and recorded on the
system.
This role requires a high levels of flexibility in relation to hours of work including
regular evening and weekend work and split shifts.

Salary – circa €35,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
