chemotherapy. She has requested financial assistance to allow her mother to stay with her
during treatment. StuCo will be raising money for this.
Most Spirited High School Contest – Palmer just sent in a video for this contest. Each person can
vote once a day.
4. Principal’s Report (Lara)
 Enrollment – Palmer’s current enrollment is approximately 1835. There are still some
students transferring in, and Palmer is still trying to drop no shows from their student list.
Enrollment is a little below last school year, as expected.
 Palmer has had a very positive start to the school year.
 PLC Reboot - D11 is focusing on PLC reboot, district wide. What do we do if students aren’t
getting it, or are getting it quickly and need enrichment?
 Intervention – Brad Lyall is the Intervention Coordinator at Palmer, and he’s been spending
time visiting other D11 schools, helping them with their intervention programs. Brooke Bell
is running the Math Tutoring Center this school year, and 100-200 students were seen at the
math tutoring center so far this year. Bridget Donovan is running the English / Language
Arts Tutoring Center, and she has seen ~175 students during the past 3 days. Chris Kilroy is
??? Palmer will be adding a Behavioral Intervention component this school year, to
preserve the learning environment.
5. UIP Update (Dan)
 USIP One Page Template – Dan shared this document.

Major Improvement Strategy #1 – “Develop solid PLCs school wide with a focus on planning,
data aggregation and utilization, and Intervention (in coordination with the Tutoring
centers) and a school wide approach to teaching higher Depth of Knowledge in all classes
and created Actions steps aligned to our MYP whole school implementation.”

Data – We won’t have a SPF (School Performance Framework) this year, and will likely use
ACT scores since these have ethnic and other breakouts.

DOK – The challenge we saw last year is that although teachers planned for DOK 3, they
often had to scaffold down. It’s difficult to scaffold back up. It’s a cultural shift for the staff
to allow students to struggle with higher DOK questions.

10th grade Personal Project – as part of whole school IBMYP, all 10th graders will be doing a
personal project. All staff members are working with students on their projects, with ~3
students assigned to each staff member. Students will showcase these projects in February.
6. DAC Report
 9/10 (tonight) - SAC Training will be held.
 9/17 - Full DAC meeting

remain the same over time.
Homecoming – 20 corvettes are lined up to participate.
Alumni Breakfast – will be held 9/12.
Reunion – Class of ’55 will hold their 60th reunion this weekend (9/12).
