RESEARCH PROFILE
My focus lies on the biological phenomenon of oxidative stress and aging. In particular I am
interested in oxidative damage of proteins and the fate of oxidized proteins. I work with in vitro and
in vivo aged cells, as well as with model systems of cellular aging to investigate processes of protein
oxidation, the removal of oxidized proteins, aggregate formation and effects of antioxidants on these
processes. Currently I am working on the investigation of intracellular properties of the formed agerelated protein aggregates and cellular consequences.
