CHECKLIST FOR U RESEARCH COURSES
Complete checklist for each course chosen to be part of U Research.
1. _____ Course is a required course for the major.
2. _____ Course has a research-based assignment through which one or more of
the U Research Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) will be taught and assessed.
3. _____ Syllabus is included with the submission, and it includes a U Research
statement: “This section of _______ includes an information literacy emphasis
as part of U Research, Mississippi College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).”
4. _____ SLOs addressed by the course are articulated in the course syllabus
and/or in the assignment. This should be part of the submission form.
5. _____ The performance goal has been set and is listed on the submission form.
6. _____ Relevant assignment(s)that will be used to assess the SLOs is/are
included with the submission form
7. _____ Assessment method is included with the submission form.
8. _____ Assessments are appropriate and will evaluate specific SLOs within each
assignment.
9. _____ SLOs are appropriately aligned to both the assignment and the
assessment. (If the SLO is “communicate the product or performance
effectively and clearly to others,” does this match the criteria as described in
the assessment rubric?)
10. Approval by the Department Chair and the Dean is not required at this point.
