PRESS RELEASE
The Cass Summer Shows 2015
The Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design (The Cass) at London
Metropolitan University is proud to present it’s 2015 Summer Exhibition.
For a month students from The Cass will showcase their final projects demonstrating three
years of hard work.
The Cass Summer Shows will be presented in two parts. From 12-20 June, Summer Show
Part 1 will display work from the Art, Film, Visual Communications and Music Courses and
then, from 26 June – 4 July, the Architecture, Interiors and 3D Design courses will take their
turn for Summer Show Part 2 transforming Central House into a vast gallery for a month.
Summer Show Part 1: 12-20 June 2015
Paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and collages by Fine Art students will adorn the walls
of Central House, dissecting themes brought to them in their studios of the appeal of popculture in art, performative art, digital technology and its influences and the idea of working
with objects.
Photographs on display from BA Photography students investigate self-reflection through
photography as well as looking intensely at making and the different methods of image
creation.
Students from Visual Communications will come together on the third floor of Central
House to form Hot House, a live editorial desk which, over the course of the week, will
illustrate the process of design from idea conception to final design.
The multi-faceted Music courses will present beautifully handcrafted musical instruments,
interactive installations, computer games, film screenings with 5.1 surround sound and a live
music space titled Soundtrack produced by 3rd year students in music production.
Films will be screened in Central House throughout Part 1 showing shorts, webisodes and
animations from first to third year students. Their work explores the impact of new
technologies on human experience, the influence of screen fiction and the presence of truth
in documentaries as well as to creating their own film production company, We Make Film.
Students will screen their work at the BFI Southbank in FINAL CUTS on 17 June from 2pm.
Animation students were tasked with meeting client briefs, working either advertising or
narrative. Their responses deliver professional and brand aware outcomes delivered through
traditional film screenings, immersive experiences, projection mapping and 3D zoetropes.
Summer Show Part 2: 26 June – 4 July 2015
Architecture students will exhibit their thoughts and processes through drawings and
models reflecting work planned both in London, taking inspiration from their direct local
surroundings, wider UK topography, designing for the Somerset Levels, exploring the
primitive hut and experimental living abroad in Stockholm.
Presenting through sketches and models students from the Cass’s Interiors courses have
designed projects for collaborative work/life spaces, tracked human’s spatial experience
through interior design and looked at the design exchange between the community and its
commercial inhabitants.
3D designers and makers from will exhibit their work, showing physical incarnations their
design skill as well as displaying the practical making ability taught at the Cass. Jewellery &

creations from the RED fashion show and Product Design’s Get Up and Go series, looking
