Important Update (taken from OSA’s website on Jan 27, 2012) As of January 2012, the following Community Coaching Certifcate Courses will cease to exist: Community Children (6-10yrs) Community Youth (10-14yrs) Community Senior (14-18+yrs) These courses are now replaced with new content which is based on the Wellness to World Cup Long-Term Player Development Program (LTPD) developed by the Canadian Soccer Association focused on age and stage relevant training: COACHING IN ONTARIO: REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS 2012 Coaches who have completed the old Community Certificate (Senior) need only complete the Respect In Soccer to coach in the transition period -2012 season. (Refer to information below with regard to Respect in Soccer. Refer to the charts to see which stream and courses you need to take to coach competitive players, if you have not completed the old Senior course. Competitive registered teams with players U9 - U12 Male / U8 - U11 Female Completion of the new ”Learning To Train” course with Respect In Soccer & the MED (Make Ethical Decisions) or Completion of the previous “Senior Diploma Award” (Child, youth and senior) Competitive registered teams with players 12+ Male / 11+ Female Completion of the new “Active for Life” course with Respect In Soccer & the MED (Make Ethical Decisions) or Completion of the previous “Senior Diploma Award” (Child, youth and senior) To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma, you will need to complete Soccer for Life and MED. NEW Community Coaching Courses: The Canadian Soccer Association has now completed work on the Community Stream for the NEW PROGRAM. Course for the Community Stream in the New Program are now available on the OSA Coach Course Calendar. For the first transition period (transition time tbd) both old and new soccer coach training will be recognized. After a certain Date (which CSA will announce) the old CCC, CCY and CCS certification levels will not be recognized. (CSA / NCCP to provide more info on the transition) Due to this coaches who wish to continue to hold certification of the age group they coach, must take the appropriate new coaching course. All competitive-level coaches must complete the “Respect in Soccer” program by April 15th before the 2012 outdoor season. A youth coach must either have competed their Senior Diploma or Learning to Train and Making Ethical Decisions (MED) license (for coaching U9-U12 boys and U8-U11 girls). Those who plan to coach a U12 or older male side, or a U11 and older female team, must have either their Senior Diploma or have completed the Soccer for Life and MED course. To clarify, if you are coaching female players who turn 11 in 2012 (born in 2001) or male players who turn 12 in 2012 (born in 2000) and you do not have your senior diploma, you will need to complete Soccer for Life and MED.
