AGREEMENT I will abide by conditions as per attached permit criteria sheet, or as imposed by an authorised officer Signature: Print Name: Date: DEFINITIONS Dog A dog of either sex or de sexed that is over the age of 3 months Cat A cat of either sex or de sexed that is over the age of 3 months Rodent Includes any rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats and hamsters and other mammals characterised by incisors adapted for gnawing and nibbling Poultry Includes chickens (but not roosters), ducks, geese, peacocks, pheasants and turkeys and anything similar of any age. Small Bird Any budgerigar, canary, finch or other similar size or smaller bird. GENERAL CONDITIONS Any enclosures must be eight (8) metres from nearest point of any adjacent dwelling. If a permit is granted, it will be subject to an annual review or a review following receipt of any complaints from neighbouring properties. An Animal Management Officer will attend and inspect the animals, and housing of the animals to ensure that the animals are kept with adequate shelter, food, and water, and secured to the property in a manner to maintain safety of the animals and prevent nuisance to any neighbouring residents. Any food stored which may attract vermin or other pests must be kept in a sealed container. Food and animal waste must be disposed on a regular basis and in a manner to prevent odour and/or nuisance. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Failure to comply with any of the above conditions may result in the permit being cancelled and/or penalties issued as prescribed in the Local Law. Application / Permit fee is non-refundable. DOGS/CATS All dogs and cats on property must be registered with Maroondah City Council at all times and securely confined to your premises in accordance with the Domestic Animals Act 1994. All cats are to be confined to property at all times. All dogs and cats are to be micro-chipped and preferably de-sexed Dogs must not create a nuisance by barking, menacing or attacking Dogs are not to be found at large or wandering at any time. All new dogs and cats are subject to a new permit application. BIRDS/PIGEONS/FOWL Pigeon keepers must comply with Victorian Code of Practice for keeping and racing of Pigeons Keeping of roosters is not permitted Every aviary/fowl house shall: Be large enough to give each bird 0.5 sqm in floor area Be roofed with galvanised iron or other approved material Be paved with concrete at least 75mm thick and with the surface of such paving being at least 75mm above the surrounding ground level at all points and covered to a height of 75mm internally with adequate vermin proof drain. Have the external walls including the door thereof constructed of approved material to a height of 0.6 metre minimum above the floor area. Wire netting may be used above such height to the roof level Be rendered rat proof by placing galvanised iron, jointed brick work or concrete around the foundations to a depth of 0.5 metres below ground level Be constructed and maintained to prevent the escape of any bird/fowl Every aviary/fowl house or fowl run shall be sited: At least 12 metres from the boundary of any street or road to which the land has frontage The owner and occupier of any property on which an aviary/fowl house is erected or bird/fowl are kept shall: Ensure that the ground surrounding any aviary/fowl house is well drained to the satisfaction of an authorised officer Keep the area of land within 3 metres of any aviary/fowl house upon the property free from all dry grass, weeds, refuse, rubbish or other materials capable of harbouring rats or vermin. Ensure that no feathers, carcass or part of any carcass or litter is burnt in such a manner as to cause a nuisance or to be offensive, injurious to health or dangerous. Ensure that the floor of the aviary/fowl house is at all times covered to a depth of 20mm with litter. A fowl house may have attached thereto a fowl run which is enclosed by wire netting provided that it is maintained in such a manner as to prevent the escape of fowl there from. The keeping of fowls in battery cages is prohibited.
