However, since we lost some valuable lecture hours in the previous semester, in the first two weeks will do some catching up and cover two topics, which normally was on the schedule of Introduction to Economics I. In previous semester’s course, we focused entirely on the behaviours of the actors in an economy, firms, individuals and the government, namely. However, usual topics to be covered in a standard macroeconomics course, to which ours is no exception, generally analyze aggregated economic activity, rather than individual. Briefly, these topics are comprised of measuring national income, production and growth, money and prices, long run and short run analysis, open economy macroeconomics, unemployment and inflation. Along with the conduct of the course, you will have the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the working of our national economy and the world economy as a whole. Lectures will be held in a similar fashion to those in the first semester. The same textbook and slideshows, most of you already have, will be utilized during the lectures. Let me repeat my recommendation that you take the printouts of the slides prior to the lectures and take your notes on these printouts. When you have them bound, you may have collected a complete series of slides and lecture notes. All students are expected to attend the classes and have a prior examination of the subject, which may involve, preferably, reading the material beforehand or at least taking a glance at the slides and learning some of the vocabulary. Similar, again, to the first semester, all students attending the lectures are supposed to exhibit appropriate conduct and not to violate others’ right to be lectured in a decent and silent environment. Interrupting the lecture with your questions relevant to the subject is encouraged and welcome. Two mid-term exams will constitute 60 percent of your overall grade while the remaining 40 percent will be due to your final exam. Quizzes and assignments will be evaluated as an extra contribution to your overall grade. Assignments are supposed to be typed (not handwritten) and submitted via e-mail rather than being printed and submitted in class. Attendance and participation will also be evaluated as a contributing factor and any fraud attempts detected will be punished. Plagiarism in assignments and cheating in exams will also be punished in accordance with appropriate formal procedure. Within this week, all students are expected to send a blank e-mail to seckinsunal@gmail.com with the name of the course and their group number written in the subject field for required arrangements and access to resources electronically available. E-mail address for submitting homework is seckins.tdemo@analysis.urkund.com Sources Parkin, M., (2012), Economics, 10th Edition, Pearson. Slides. Handouts and lecture notes.
