CRDF GLOBAL REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) Summary: CRDF Global is seeking U.S. and international consultants for laboratory biorisk management; public, veterinary and zoonotic health; and related topics. Background: CRDF Global is an independent nonprofit organization that promotes international scientific and technical collaboration through grants, technical resources, training and services. CRDF Global is based in Arlington, Virginia with offices in Moscow, Russia; Kyiv, Ukraine; Almaty, Kazakhstan; and Amman, Jordan. Expertise needed: CRDF Global has periodic and recurring needs for consultants with diverse expertise, including incountry expertise, to support work and projects funded by BEP in South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Eurasia, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa. The length and specifics of engagement may vary, but in general, CRDF Global is seeking those who have expertise in one or more of the following topics in one or many of the regions listed above: - Biorisk management trainings for public health and veterinary laboratories that handle infectious material. - Biorisk management improvements at laboratories that handle infectious material. - Awareness of dual use research of concern and strategies to mitigate the risks posed by this research. - Veterinary vaccine production best practices. CRDF Global Request for Proposal Page 1 of 2 - Laboratory assessments for public health and animal health, including waste management. Laboratory equipment operation, maintenance and repair training. Laboratory management training, including budgeting, strategic planning, management, and personnel reliability. Improving the culture of responsible science by integrating biorisk management and bioethics curriculum at public health or animal health programs at universities. Scope, Tasks, and Deliverables The scope of activities will vary depending on the specific need. CRDF Global will conduct specific requests for proposal (RFPs) for work and invite relevant responders to this RFI to submit to these RFPs. Potential scopes could include conducting training on a particular topic, conducting laboratory assessments at facilities in a specific country, or assisting laboratories to improve their biorisk management practices through consultations, in one or more countries; collaboration with international partners, CRDF Global staff, other contractors, and U.S. government personnel; and periodic and/or final reporting on work accomplished and recommendations for next steps. The respondent must have proven experience working with international partners and experts in the key areas of biosecurity and biosafety and strong understanding of local context when working with international partners.
